Do you work at Amedisys? How did you find the job? How did you get that first interview?

Any advice for someone trying to get in?

I worked for Amedisys for 4 years and they have a great mission but they expect the work of 5 people and the pay is horrible. I was traveling extensivly as a BOM and compensated very little.

Be sure that if you apply you make sure how much money you are going to make. They divide your annual pay by 2080 so when you calculate how much you make an hour and multiply by 160(two 80 hours) then you would see that you are not actually making that annual. Also if your salaried they can get more work out of you during the week and weekends (meaning dont expect to get off at the time they close). Maybe it depends on location.

I applied for a clerical position. When the recruiter called one of the first questions she asked was, "Do you know anyone at Amedisys?" That leads me to believe that knowing someone would be a definite plus.

I REALLY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING OTHER THAN THEY GET AMEDISYS REFERRALS. THEY GO TO MD OFFICES AND TELL THEM ABOUT US.

"Do you know anyone at Amedisys?"

Sometimes knowing someone will give you a subjective viewpoint as apposed to the syrup you are served by the recruiters and website. Amedisys is not what it is cracked up to beleive. .....maybe they don't want you to know someone who works at Amedisys.

I would love to work at Amedisys but not in the field as a home health nurse or hospice nurse. I have personal reasons for declining those positions. I don't know what "nay sayers" are saying. Amedisys was broke, down and out. No one wanted to work for them. NOW LOOK!!! If they can rebuild a company they can rebuild an RN into success!!!!

I want to work behind a desk in the capacity of my training and knowledge as an RN with 9 yrs experience.

Thank you Amedisys.

RUN FROM AMEDISYS. REALLY -- RUN! YES, ON PAPER THEY PAY WELL. THEIR BENEFITS ARE GREAT. BUT THEY WILL WORK YOU TO THE BONE, THEIR MANAGERS WILL RIDE YOUR BACK, YOU WILL FEEL THE INCESSANT PRESSURE OF PERFECTION .... AND THE LEAST PATIENT COMPLAINT (NO MATTER HOW CRAZY THE PATIENT IS, AND THEY GET A LOT OF CRAZIES) WILL RESULT IN A WRITE UP. I HAVE WORKED IN MEDICINE FOR 16 YEARS, THE MAJORITY IN HOME HEALTH, AND AMEDISYS IS POSITIVELY THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER WORKED FOR IN TERMS OF HOW THEY TREAT EMPLOYEES.

Everyone knows that that company is being investigated for Medicare frad and securities fraud. The company is TOTALLY fixed on the bottom line and employees are just expendable means to that end. But here is the total hypocrisy of it all: in the branch in which I worked, right inside the front door is a large photo of Mother Theresa hugging a little child. Imagine: that saintly woman did her charity for no recompense at all, out of the love for God; Amedisys does what they out of the love for money ...

IF I WERE YOU, I WOULD RUN, RUN, RUN AS FAR AS I CAN FROM AMEDISYS .... THEY FOCUS WELL ON QUALITY CARE BUT SQUEEZE THEIR EMPLOYEES LIKE RIPE ORANGES TO ACHIEVE IT. I HAVE BEEN IN HEALTH CARE FOR 16 YEARS AND CAN SAY UNEQUIVOCALLY THAT THIS COMPANY TREATS EMPLOYEES WORSE THAN ANY COMPANY I HAVE EVER WORKED FOR. THEY MAY PAY YOU WELL, BUT THEN THEY WILL SEND YOU 50 MILES IN ALL DIRECTIONS AND YOU WILL BE UP UNTIL THE WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING DOING DOCUMENTATION. YOU WILL COMSTANTLY RECEIVE FEEDBACK ABOUT ANYTHING YOU DO WRONG, AND VERY LITTLE IF ANY ABOUT YOUR DEDICATION AND OTHER EFFORTS. YOUR COMPUTER WILL BREAK DOWN AND YOU WILL BE WAITING ON THE PHONE FOR HOURS FOR AN I.T. PERSON TO HELP YOU FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY WILL HIRE YOU AT A HIGH RATE AND THEN FIND WAYS TO CUT YOU BACK, FREEZE PAY, ETC. (IN MY CASE, THEY PROMISED SALARIED PAY UNTIL THE CASELOAD GOT TO 30 VISITS A WEEK, AND WHEN IT DIDN'T GET THERE AFTER 6 MONTHS OR SO, THEY JUST DECIDED TO PUT ME ON PER-VISIT PAY -- THE "REGIONAL INITIATIVE"). IN MY CITY, I NOW WORK FOR ANOTHER HHC COMPANY AND LATELY WE ARE GETTING NUMEROUS FORMER AMEDISYS PATIENTS BECAUSE AMEDISYS HAS LOST MUCH OF THEIR STAFF DUE TO HOW THEY TREAT PEOPLE. I CAN ONLY GIVE THIS ADVICE: STAY AWAY!!!!

Thank you very much! What HHC Company are you with? I would be on the Administration side; not clinical. I do not have a RN or LPN degree...

Thanks!!

I live in Indiana, so I doubt I could help ....

I did leave out a most important item: When Amedisys hires a direct care provider, they require them to sign a non-compete clause, saying they won't work for any other home care provider during Amedisys employment. Seems innocuous enough , but they promised me full time work and then, when they couldn't provide it, they reduced me to per-visit pay and still enforced the non-compete clause. So, basically they forced me out of having full time work in home health care.

I repeat: Amedisys treats their employees like dirt. Unless faced with starvation, I suggest staying away!

My advice for you is to run as fast as you can to another company. Working at Mcdonalds for $7.00 per hour would be better than working for this company. At least at Mcdonalds you wouldn't work around the scum of the earth...

Show up at the interview. They are desperate. All the good clinical people have fled and work at well respected companies.

It is not worth it to work for an unethical company. In 20 years I have never seen such corruption and lies.

Believe me you don't want to work at Amedysis. I caught my manager and ever since then she ignores me. Since then they decided to nic-pick at things that didn't make sense. I have to bring in the union to have someone on my side. They have had employee lawsuits that they have lost so they decided to go to arbitration to settle any disputes. They did however allow employees to opt out if they didn't want it. Their orientation is so poor that you have to learn the job on your own. The HR manager won't even answer questions that I have so I quite asking. If you do work there make sure that you keep a log of your daily encounters with management because they will throw you under the bus if they have a chance. Good Luck.

DON'T---- it is not a good company to work for. they will treat you like an indentured servant. There is no balance between work and home life..... oh and they are closing offices right and left.

As of May 15th 2014 a settlement was made for 150,000,000 with 15 million of that going to a nurse in Alabama for being a whistleblower. She reported Amedisys for Medicare fraud. They are positively the worst agency I have ever worked for in terms of pay and patient care. They have so many chiefs trying to micromanage the field nurse that really no one knows what's going on. They basically take every patient that gets referred and when you try and tell them that the patient doesn't fit medicare guidelines for admission, you are told to admit anyway. RUN, RUN, RUN, AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN
