CSX is a great place to work. I have worked for the Company since 2007 starting off as a Freight Conductor and now currently as a Mechanical Carman. The dress is casual blue jeans, dickies, carhartt attire and steel toe boots.
If you start in Transportation as a Freight Conductor here are a few things to expect. You will not have a normal schedule. You will work on call as needed on what we call a guarantee extra board. You will be paid for the time that you do not report to work but rarely.
This job requires a HIGH DEGREE OF SAFETY. No previous use of drugs or alcohol abuse. You can expect to have a hair sample taken upon your invitiation to a class date. The HAIR SAMPLE gives up to a ONE YEAR history of previous illegal drug use.
If you are selected for this job you can expect to work at a local yard switching railcars and preparing them for inbound or outbound yards or you may be called upon to take the train up to 150 miles from the main terminal to another terminal.
The job pays on average 200 plus a day.
We are currently looking to hire a more diverse workforce. People of different Ethic backgrounds, Women and Veterans are ENCOURAGED TO APPLY.
