Hey guy, don't hate just because they didn't hire a numb nuts like you. Or if they did, at least they had the brains to fire you or make your job a living hell because you are a negative/unproductive pain in the a**. You are probably like a cancer in the stores, and with your managers. I am proud to say I have worked hard and earned my Electrician's License and took a job as an MTS at the Depot for $24 bucks an hour with great benefits. This is first shift, M-F 8-5pm job. I am home every night for dinner with the wife and kids. Every once in a while, I work a Saturday but they are flexible. Try it, you might like it.

um...just hired on at HD a master electricican...25 an hour! M-S, with one day off during the week, and sundays always off. I'm union trained so helping people comes easy, selling is easy, i'm a high priced stock boy...but what ever! It pay's the bills.

Here in CA we start at 26 per hour but I'll bet it's about half of that in NC. Our pay band is capped out at 32 per hour but I've never seen anyone even close to that. I also heard that there is a freeze on hiring master specs cause of the economy. has anyone else heard the same thing? I tried to transfer to Virginia and got no responses from any stores even though they have openings listed. We make as much if not more than the ASM's in our store. They start at 46k per year, I made 55k my first year. that's a lot more than I made contracting. I love my HD job...

I was hired in as the Master Plumbing Specialist in Ashland Ohio about a year ago. I was hired in part time and will probably never see full time there due to the fact that it is a small store. I would like to transfer to one of the southern stores also but I'm not sure of the best way to do so. Has anyone made a major move like this and how did it work? They are only scheduling me for 8 hours a week at this point and I need more hours. There are recent adds posted looking for people to fill the same position in NC, VA, GA, and Fl so I don't know about the hiring cap, but I would not doubt that is the case. Also I am a licensed plumber here in Ohio, would I need to be licensed in the state I move to if I choose to do so, or is the Ohio license good enough for everywhere?
I like the job I just need to get full time hours in a bigger store.

Any State issued contractor's license is good enough for a job at any home depot, it has to be verified and that's difficult if it's not current. You can't just say you used to be licensed it probably won't work. and I'm pretty sure there is a freeze on the high salaries that they used to offer...If they even hire that position anymore.
