Lockheed Martin and Bell Helicopter VP's are you AWAKE?? Have been on interview lists for months' with no call. They have the open positions but are to sleepy to call anyone in for an interview. I was even told to apply for certain openings by their HR rep at job fairs after viewing my resume. I assume that as long as their drawing a paycheck who cares about the rest of us.

I LOVE HD! I was a high school teacher for ten years and was fed to the wolves out there. HD hired me as a millwork specialist at the same pay I was making after ten years in education. In two months I was a DH, in one year I made it to Specialty DH and tomorrow I have my RMA. THe opprotunity to grow is phenominal and I hate seeing this crap out here of "you won't get hired if you're not black"...let me see...hmmmm....yep, I'm still a white guy. And the "the pay is crap"...again....let's see...yep, my account is much larger these days. It's a great job, you just have to be willing to actually do your best and pass background and drug tests......does that possibly count some people out????

I am a HRM with the Depot. Instead of complaining about what HD does so bad why don't you all focus on developing your careers. I've been with HD for 7 years and enjoy my work. The complainers may be the HR's who stay locked away in their offices. Now they are going to be held accountable for such poor work ethic. Stop complaining...HD is a great company with room to improve like we all do. Instead of quitting or complaining I have decided to explore other avenues. Since I came out of my office I have skills that will enable me to move into other roles.Maybe some of you should have tried this yourselves.

I can work any dept in the depot, and I have worked all of them, I have to go to part time because wonderful depot doesn't want to give me anything with the hours I have been working for the past 8 years. Complaining?? Ya I'm complaining that my children have to live on foodstamps. I can't afford a babysitter so I can work the hours HD wants me to now. While I was working for the depot for the past 8 years "Bleeding Orange" and developing my career, gaining my .35 cent yearly raise, working my ass off for a company who can take thier best employees and treat them like crap. You can sit in your office and preach like that? Now we get to see you do some real work, can you drive a reach truck?? I can, do you know where we keep the RV antifreeze?? How bout loading a 1/2 pallet of Steer manure?? Hope you have fun!!! Oh ya did ya like that salary???

only 1 year at the depot and I'm lovin it. I've never had a job that I didn't have to force myself out of bed for. The people are friendly for the most part, and they actually recognize hard work and reward it. Those of you who are unhappy, try taking some initiative and doing something that gets noticed, instead of just the bare minimum asked of you. Some more advice, look at your last review and the items that you did not score an "o" on. those things will get you better raises and promotions. If you make your dept a better place the rewards will come, guaranteed.

Who is paying you to post such ridiculous comments. Get real.
This is a fourm for positive and negative feedback. The complainers would not be venting online if Home Depot truly took an interest and attempted to validate some of these complaints. I like my HD job, however, I have seem many instances where HD is a scattered disaster when it comes to employee human relations. Maybe you should try to HEAR the frustations from some of the HD employees and stop judging and generalizing each complaint! HD probably keeps you around just for that purpose. You bleed orange and slap down anyone who has a real issue............ Shame on you.

It is a little hard to roll with the punches when home depot
punches are struck from "behind you back" and knock the wind right out of you. If home depot played fair as a legitimate team, enployees would not be so enraged.

You sound Super Flared up Arizona. Have you considered going to Lowes or somewhere else? Have you tried asking someone you trust in home depot management for advice? I understand where you are coming from. There must be someone you can seek advice from? Be carefull to avoid the complaint line. It is a complaint line that your manager gets to listen to to and actually hear your voice complaining. They should call it what is is. A "double cross your employees" right to report abuse.

Why don't you try to get someone in your store to create a HOME DEPOT DAY CARE PLAN. I don't understand why home depot has not entertained this idea in the first place. HOME DEPOT IS NOT A FAMILLU FRIENDLY PLACE TO WORK. Why don't employees merge together to create change that woul help employees. If Home Depot financed its own family day care district wide, OH NO!!!!, worker moral might actually improve. Happy workers make more productive employees! OH NO.... We can't have any happiness at Home Depot! Sorry I know I am being sarcastic and I can't help mtself. I am as frustrated as everyone else. I may create a new topic about this one. What do you think?

Sound like a great idea to a hd worker that has to arrange for childcare. International corporations such as Japan have been doing this for years. Workers are much happier? Don't believe the BIG HOME DEOPT CEOs would even consider it. Worth a try though.

It seems everyone is cutting jobs and closing stores from Circuit City, Sharper Image, Linens & Things, DHL US operations, Macy's, Zappos.... the list keeps growing. The only guys doing great right now are the Wal-marts of the world.
The only other company I know that bleeds orange harder than Home Depot is Hale Groves. Of course they make their living from selling oranges.....hehe

Bleeding is right. My husband worked their for over 10 years. He was just put on part time along with everyone else in their store. Then he was promised 20 hours. Got that for 1 week, he is now down to 12 hrs a week.
He was also promised that he could keep his benifits for 1 year.
Well we just recieved the Cobra letter telling us due to his status change to part time they cancelled them and we could keep insurance for over $600.00 a month. They aren't EVEN paying him that much a month now.
Bleed orange out your ears you management plant. Your real employees are getting laid off and quiting due to the LIES from Home Depot.

I guess they don't mind "trimming the fat" in Ohio or Michigan either. Get a clue. You need to wake up and see that the company does not have loyalty to you no matter what color you "bleed." Ask all of the people who were just cut down to 12 hours a week from full time. While at the same time they are still hiring? Why not give the guys that ALREADY WORK THERE the hours?????

Hmm, sounds like HD wants them to quit instead of just telling them the truth and laying them off. Then they could at least get unemployment. You know, the guys who have made a "career" at HD for the past ten years of their lives. Could it be because HD wants them to quit so they can keep the lower paid employees? Now, Home Depot wouldn't treat it's beloved employees that way, would they?

Face it. No company cares for their employees when the bottom line is at at stake. You just got lucky that your job isn't cut yet.

Wow I could answer that in so many ways, first of all if i'm working somewhere for 10 years and i'm not management, it means that i just gave it about 50% and i can only blame myself for my failure. Also I can blame myself for not moving out of industrially dead areas of the country like Michigan and Ohio. How much poverty joblessness and depression can people expose themselves to before they move? Instead of complaining about management, work hard, get promoted and make a difference. Everyone who is still employed should be thankful enough to give everything they have to keep it. That's just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

So basically you are telling me that my husband is a slacker because he doesn't want to become management at Home Depot and be moved around from store to store? Have you every really worked as a manager? Are you O.K. with moving to a new store every year? Management is a only a goal for people who want to be managers.
He has been asked to apply for a managment position. He doesn't want to be a manager.
What do you know about our life in MI? Perhaps we should just move and leave our older relatives who need help? Maybe a nursing home would be the best solution. You know times are hard so we should dump everyone and move state?

What a unimaginative and uninformed reply. People live and work where they are for a reason. The company lied, about benefits and about hours. Simple. Of course he can leave, but that doesn't make Home Depot any more honest. Everyone is still on part time and they still keep on hiring.

Our local store just fired their assistant manager last week and the head manager was escorted out this week. Sounds like that is a great job to work towards.
Home Depot cares for the bottom line only, which is fine and what they should do as a business. But they should at least stop the lies so people can respect them and be proud to work there

Well thats not good...i was unhappy for a while at homedepot but i realized that i wasnt gonna take it and a bunch of associates who felt unappreciated got together and did something about it...the dhs never do anything and have the worse customer service ever so we let them know at town hall meetings and now they are being observed and we aint gonna say they are solved until they are so that will be something open until resolved so now mgmt is appreciating associates more and giving us more apportunities and well sometimes you got to beat the system and if you cant and are truly unhappy then you need to get out cause it probobly aint getting any better. I learned to defend myself and i let them know that i am valuable everyday because everyday i learn something new and make some of the dhs look so stupid and sometimes they dont like it but i dont care. i have always been a leader no matter what position i am in and leaders have followers and associates are following me beacuse they are to fed up and aint having it no more and guess what its working. they appreciate us more and that makes us happy and we can work better like that so it may not give us a big o raise but atleast we are not wining and complaing. i tell associates either you do something about it or you dont but dont complain and sound like a broken record cause nobody will care.

That's the way to do it, Luz. As a DH (TRC and now Paint), I know it's my crew that is ultimately the driving force of my department's success. I took over paint recently to clean up the mess of a tyrant of a DH and I'm having to battle poor morale because my associates have lost faith in their leadership team. I'll never say HD is the perfect company and it certainly isn't a job for everyone, but despite it's flaws this is still the BEST company I've worked for ever to this day (and I've worked around, believe me).
For those of you who've had bad experiences wearing the orange, it sucks and I hope things look up.
For those of you who, like me, enjoy the job: keep on trucking.

14 Dedicated hard working years even saved the company $350,000.00 for a corperate screwup but i was one of the targets of the top 5% pay to get terminated.
Blead orange Yea before Robert Nardellie took office back in 2001 ever sense then it been down hill.
Heck Home Depot even paid Nardellie 40 Million just to take a hike.
Think that fixed the problem heck no all the rest of the vp's were hired by Nardile and were from the same Co. G.E. Power division and none of them still had a frikin clue how to manage a retail buisness.
Dont be bleading to much cause you No. will be soon unless your in the -5% in pay structure but i doubt it.
The Unions are taking over quickly because every one is tired of all the lies, Bs, and daily threats they have to live with.
I was totaly driven insane susidal and near death with extreme high blood pressure. Almost died then after three months of rehab at a mental facility durring which i was lead on my job was safe and secure.
On the day i was finally released to go back to work to get reasigned I was terminated instead.
So tell me Dude what part of the value wheel did that act fit in Creating shareholder value? Home Depot dont give a dam about you like Bernie did in the past so get over your self and open your eyes to reality.
The Home depot Pyrimid is sitting on it's flat side and all of you associates are nothing but and expense and liability.
Heck they dont even train anymore they just toss warm bodies on the floor and tell them to greet every customer.
LMFAO Home Depot is doomed practically 10% of the stores are even making sales plan and unions are rapidly taking over distric by distric.
The new Lame Idiot DM has recently fired 4 store managers and at least 6 ASM and at least 12+ DH's in the past 6 Mo

The Big Orange Box fired me because of rumors spread unjustly. 4 years of Running every dept. Forklift driver, OP driver, Reach truck driver, mixing paint, cutting blinds, cutting chains, cutting electrical wire, running both saws in lumber, even turning in all my tips that customers gave me for my attention to their specs.. I even got several homer badges. Fastest guy in overnight freight crew. Never late for work, always down stocking and staying busy. Checking overhead for proper sku's and terminated after 4 years of service all because of the rumor game perpetrated by cruel co workers...
