I applied for a job on the Lockheed Martin website and until today the Job Status stated "open". Today the Job Status changed to "cancelled". What does this mean?

I appreciate the fast response. Does "cancelled" mean the position no longer needs to be filled and that no one got the job? I applied for the Flight Service Specialist announcement. I was really looking forward to hearing that I either got the job or feedback as to why I didn't. I'll keep on the lookout for a new posting though. Thanks again.

That's correct, the position is no longer needed. Even if they had already extended some other applicant a conditional job offer, the REQ would still show as "Open" until their first day on the job.

Be on the lookout in case a similar position is re-opened soon, though-- sometimes REQs are cancelled if the hiring manager made a significant error in the position description, or entered in outdated information.

What position are you shooting for with LM? Also, thanks for your service in Iraq !

What does it mean when you have interviewed and the job status date changes a few days later, but the job status is still "open"? Is that in your e-book?

Yes, it is, along with many other things that you might find helpful. Be sure to check it out and download a copy before you submit the online application!

To me, this suggests that the HR technician or hiring manager may have made some slight changes to the position description, then re-posted the vacancy. Each individual requisition stays listed as "OPEN" until the new employee starts his/her first day on the job, so you can still submit your own resume for consideration.

I had an interview last week that went great. Could not have gone better. I just logged in and see the job status is "Canceled"?! The status date is 2 days after I interviewed... Does this mean my dream is dead? :(

Don't panic! Don't give up hope yet! LOL. Check with your recruiter tomorrow morning for a status update. Job descriptions can change on a moment's notice, so it's possible that this one position had to be pulled down and re-written. Only the recruiter or the managers will be able to tell you for certain.

Thanks guys for the information. I just experienced the same case with four of the positions that I've applied to so far. Now, what other job statuses would be typical to see if the position does select you as a candidate??

Hi Recruiter Bob, I'm a new grad and was contacted by an LM recruiter yesterday asking me for my interest in a position in Ft. Worth as well as some questions (Graduation date, GPA, willing to relocate, etc..). I emailed him and applied for the req. he specifically contacted me about. Is this equivalent to a pre-screen before an interview?

Also, I checked my job submission status today and I saw that two more job submissions that I did not apply for were added to my list but they say "Cancelled." Is this still a good sign/am I being looked at for the position?

I know this is an old thread but I am a little worried. I was offered a position and now a month later after I followed up, my recruiter told me tht my background had went through and he will check with my manager on a start date. That was a week ago and I have emailed him a couple time and he hasn't responded to not one of my emails since (which is odd because he always response).. do you know why I would be getting completely ignored all of a sudden?

Also, the same day he told me my background was through it was added in my job submission and states " opened"

I just went through the same thing. I had to call my recruiter and ask for my official start date because I was going to buy a house in the area. She told me my start date and told me to keep an eye on my email in case anything changed. Remember that start dates can be fluid, depending on your department there could be a lot of loose ends that have to be tied up before you can start. To your second portion, my position still says open as well. However, whenever I search for the job req number, it won't let me. It says this position is no longer available.
