Our BU is currently undergoing the "Leaning The Lab" process, doing a full makeover of our facilities. We will be streamlining and consolidating our departments, and I am worried that this process will leave some people out of a job. I was not concerned at first, rather, I was excited that the changes would result in better patient care. Is there anyone who has survived this process in Atlanta who could offer me some encouragement?

LAYOFFS are a part of Corporate America, at Quest they are part of their global design. Buy, divide, merge and of course layoff as many as you can.

Don't get too comfortable at Quest, remember it's "At will employment ", keep a lot of $$ in the bank , try not to impact your health if your working for them, it only a temporary job after all.

Should you have any health problems, keep them to yourself, as this will put you at the top of any layoff plans.

It a very poor envirorment, can't recommend as an employer...

By the way your welcome as well to send your mail and letters as I do as often as I can with jokes and news to these people as they love to joke about the sick especially those with HIV as they fight over who has to draw them. Learn exactly how these employee's really feel about you the customer. After all I worked over twenty years and I was outspoken as well as stated all the wrongs that this site did daily! Here's the address:
Quest Diagnostics
1792 E. Joyce Blvd. Suite #5
Fayetteville, Arkansas 72703
If the rest of you old timers would fight back against unjust lay-off's or terminations of firing then you'll also feel better as well as give the public exactly how Quest Diagnostics treats there customers as well as there employee's. Fear not the truth and fight even if it means going to court, but force them to take you as most of us could never afford to fight for our jobs back when they know your a whistle blower. Many of you have seen me fighting here since November 29th, 2007 the date of my layoff, termination firing!

Layoffs? Really? Bet there terminating more than laying anyone off. That is how Quest Diagnostics is. They don't give you severance or anything like that especially if you have worked over twenty plus years. The money is the goal. the health of the customer is null, as it's the bottom line with Quest Diagnostics. I have been away from this poor employee company now going on three years. Good thing I planned ahead as I advise anyone to do that has more than five years with Quest Diagnostics. Your rate of pay is at the limit soon. Then be prepared. It is not about the clients, it's about the bottom line with Quest Diagnostics! You have been warned!

Obviously they really enjoy making your lives miserable. After 5 dedicated years they should at least appreciate you. After 20 years you should truly be treated like a real part of the company.

They start to find reason's as soon as you hit that top pay scale. After all when your entitled to thirty days off for vacation, as well as 20 days for illness or family funerals. They need to replace you at a greater cost. Then you also have profit sharing and get any place from 0-5% for profit sharing. All this takes place after your yearly hire date. Normally you reach that top pay scale after fifteen years. I never complained about work hours or any changes. When I moved to Arkansas, I made many complaints as to employee's checking specimens in the lunch room, because of lack of room. Employee's not using gloves when drawing blood from clients. Not using face masts when running tests. All these things and a lot more were costly for any Quest company in California. Here in Arkansas, they just say do it as quickly as possible. Have a problem test? Set it a side and go on to the next one. Someone that knows how to do it will do it on the next shift. A test gets lost misplaced or damaged in transit. We were told to say, that it was missplaced by the parents company, but never accepted blame for our office even if we had an accident. Zero percent accidents more important than the patients in Arkansas. So much I see and it still goes on now. At last they started to make changes in order to write me up with complaints that were never made. False write ups. Never able to prove so was fired. I keep track of a few people still that I worked with and a couple have been fired when they found out i was talking to them. But, if the government would put in someone to see the miss doings of Quest Diagnostics, they would be closed down and fined until they came into compliance. As I stated it's the bottom line and that is all it is right now. Want to live on pill's then don't use Quest, get another lab as you will be sorry if your tests are mistaken or false results are sent because they made a guess from not finding your test or blood. California needs to teach these labs here

To the private message! I already been threatened by Quest Diagnostics to remove pages. I refused, so many pages have been destroyed by the server's their selves. When your a big corportations such as Quest Diagnostics there able to badger and scare you and try to stop many. If you tell the truth as to what takes place then to court I fear not. Yes, I own my property as well as anything else. Yes, I had hard times when I was fired! But, I live a comfortable and low budget life. I was forced to spend all my 401k and savings to make it. But, I did make it. I still can work for at lease another five years or till I was at lease 65, as that is what I had plans to do or until a really sneaky and bad so called supervisor made everyone's life mi sable retired. In stead she would lie and do things that were never contested by me. I refuse to talk with liars and really dervish people. So, I was set up and not even the company would allow me to come to defend myself. So that alone showed me it was the bottom line as it appeared as well as told to me when this super passed it on to us verbally. Anything to be done illegal was always done verbally as I kept all notes as well as letters sent in my desk at work. Day of termination all my letters were taken/stolen. When asked they had no idea what I was talking about. Still am sure one of hundreds of employee's will have copies in there homes. Take me to court as well as destroy web sites. I will continue to tell people about Quest Diagnostics as long as I can type. I will continue to check with people as to what there doing and pass it on to as many as possible. Quest Diagnostics stole a lot of my life when I gave all and everything to the company. I just don't want to see others waste there lives there and come out with nothing after years of service. That is what will happen! Check out who retires under there free will before ruining your life. Quest is having problems righ now, and there going to fail when everything catchesu

I was just terminated by Ameripath/Quest. I experienced the same thing. The reports were false. They were POWER plays, manipulation, and control tactics. The people in my office held positions in the company without the proper certifications. We had billing managers that were not aapc or Ahima certified so that they do not comply with ethics or complicance issues. My files were taken from me and all of my documentation was stolen. However, I did manage to slip two pieces out under their noses.

I called compliance and let them know that company policy and federal fairness and reporting policies as well as state fairness and reporting policies were violated. The company and the state compliance is clear that anyone involved in ubstructing investigation regarding termination or compliance is a punishable offense. I am holding them accountable. I am to hear back from compliance on Jan. 13, 2009. At that point, should they not settle, I will have my attorney pursue federal and state compliance and violations regarding investigation and ethics in reporting.

The lab. It is scary. They lose patients samples, mix them up, and you don't know for sure that they get it right on correction. The company spends a lot of money printing about them being one of the top 100 companies to work, their fair ethics policies, and NANANANa, to create an image. That is all it is. An image. A sad reflection in a corroded mirror.

I agree with what people say about Quest; all about the money. Worked at a lab in the surgical pathology department for 13 years; Quest bought it about 4 years ago. Got a new supervisor 2 years ago, who was lazy and showed so much favortism that it was ridiculous. I tried to do their motto of 'above and beyond' about 1 1/2 years ago by helping out on weekends, coming in on Sundays with and splitting my days off to Saturday and Monday(half the time being called into work on Monday), and the last 6 months was made to work 6 days a week, 10-12 hours a day. When I told my supervisor I couldn't do it anymore and wanted to have two days off, he acted like he couldn't care less and used subtle intimidation because he knew if I didn't come in on Sundays, he would have to get his lazy ass in there. Also, they kept doing all these 'improvements' that made the jobe harder, and we let them know it. Anyway, with working that much, made two errors because of fatigue, and got terminated. To top it off, they denied my unemployment. To whoever considers working for Quest, I would say to them unless you have absolutely no other choice, under no circumstance should you work for them. Terrible company that treats its employees like crap.

Well,. . . the manipulation gets bigger. Quest is paying me unemployment and put $1500 in my FSA (medical spending account). I last spoke with HR in Florida office (Ameripath being I worked in the Derm division) and they were to talk with the girl, my supvr, about taking my legal documents that were given to me by the company and my personal documents that I sent copies of to the Florida office. Of course, I have not heard back. I was just told that they agreed to my unemployment because they felt bad about what happened and they feel that I should have been termed. What company is going to pay unemployment and put $1500 in an FSA account unless they "know" they made a big mistake? They really think that I am stupid, I guess. I do have an attorney. I think they are trying to pay me off so I don't take it any further, but it won't work.

I am in a similar situation. They wanted to lay me off and offered me a demotion. I took it and after 2 weeks asking me to resign. I refused and now giving me a hard time. Ps check your email and reply. I need your help.

They will continue to "hound" you. They want you to go to corporate to complain. Once you do that they get corporate to take their side and the make up or twist stories. Document EVERYTHING. Send it to compliance. They will try to prohibit you from going to compliance and they will tell you that compliance doesn't mean or do anything, that compliance is just a reporting agency. At least compliance will get it to the top and your state unemployment office will go through them. Texas found Dermpath guilty and I was not found to exhibit misconduct. I was found to have been placed under undue stress. Unacceptable in the workplace. Ameripath agreed to unemployment payments and put money into my FSA. Right now, corporate has my final rebuttal. Your boss will tell you that you cannot do that either. YOU CAN REBUTTAL ANYTHING ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET. There is not a soul that can stop you from doing it. IT IS YOUR RIGHT AS AN AMERICAN CITIZEN. Use it.

Working @ Quest had been very frustrating, horrible experience and I would NOT recommend anyone to consider Quest as your employer unless & until your situation is really different..
I would not even suggest to engage any kind of "business transaction" with Quest as in my experience, this is not kind of the company you would like to deal with... Extremely poor-managed company and I agree with the comments mentioned in this forum about the company is very focused on meeting the wall-street numbers at any cost.

I am so sorry to hear that Quest Dignostics is still taking the bottom line out of the employees. was assired year or so ago tht all employee's would be treated fair and here we go again. What a shame tht a company throws away the mployee that really worked and did their best only to reach that top wage limit to be thrown out of the company with no respect. 37 years neats my 22 years. Bet it was a younger witch that was upset that the older person had so much more knowledge and wanted to be called BOSS. Don't worry The Oh Mighty One will take care of sneaky so called managers that know nothing as the company is falling apart little by little.

I'm not surprised. The company has gotten away with this behavior for so long. I bet she didn't vote for Obama. Most of those terminated did not vote for him. The company donates 85% of their contribution funds to the democratic party. This was as of 2009. That is what happened to me.

Quest is joke...Worked in B'ham for 3 years. Made complaint about person in charged of company...Never was in office always at home, could not get her to return phone calls. Asking for time off after sending request three times, had to hunt her down at home by way of phone, happened several occasions to several employees. She was made aware of complaint and found reasons to get rid of me. She has no idea of what is happening with company because she leaves everything to lead phlebotomist and courier supervisor, while she sits at home. Only show up when she knows Atlanta coming or Marshall from huntsville. Who is a joke hershelf (Marshall). I would not recommend this place to anyone much less doctors for lab work. Had lab work done at Quest showed one thing and different lab twice to show something totally different. Resulting in my be diagnosed with mystino gravis, along with lupus. Trusing Quest better watch out. CEO cares nothing about anything but his fat paycheck and bonus at end of year....

Whenever a company offers you a demotion, they are going to terminate you. Whenever a company puts you on probation, they are going to terminate you. They don't want to pay a severance package and this is going on Nationally. What they did to me was terminate me just before review time and took my bonus and broke it up among themselves. Then they don't hire anyone to take your place for several months afterward or hire PT/Temporary to save money. Currently, what I would do in your case is contact the state unemployment office and speak with an officer so that you are lined up and they know what the situation is. Document everything.
I hope this helps.

Quest is joke...cannot beleive they get away doing like they do. One person was told her job was being eleminated so she took package an left. Year later she is replaced by someone else, kinda of strange only eleminated job for year so someone else can have. Quest is for those who want to kiss a$$ to advance. I was put on probation for year for making statement that offeneded someone that had nothing to do with them much less work. Next year terminated for false accusations by manager.

DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY. They do not value their employees, regularly engage in favoritism and single out individuals who are not on their favorite list. I was employed for 7 years and at the end of October was unceremoniously laid off. I agree with many other comments that all they care about is the bottom line, not the people who sacrifice their time and energy to working here. The pay is not fair, the merit raises meager and truly stupid people are promoted because of their likeability, not their talent.

Wasted seven years of your life and thrown out because you would not kiss the feet of stupid sheep. As I said years back I will keep Quest Diagnostics alive all over the world until they start showing respect for all the employee's that wanted to help as well as gave their lives for this company only to be thrown out by over powering uneducated morons. I warn everyone never to use an abusive lab such as Quest Diagnostics as many of you also do after seeing how they want only the money and could care less about your well being or even the well being of the employee's. An ex employee of many years can and will destroy a bad corporation if all those pass on the word there rotten to the the bottom line. lewis1946@cox.net

I live up in the Port St Lucie/treasure coast area, and the staffing company down in Ft Lauderdale{almost 90 miles N.E. of me}said I need to drive down there to start the interview process for a contract Phlebotomist job Quest has advertised up here in Port St Lucie. After reading all these negative comments on the web site,am seriously thinking this will be a waste of time and gas. Working part-time job now, though not in the medical field. Any advice anyone can give on this? Going to work for Quest would be a bad choice? Thanks for reading this.

I hate to tell you this, but they like to hire new people for cheap so that they can train them and dump them easily. You would be best in finding a position at a doctors office, hospital, Lab Corp or Smith Klein. Quest, at this moment and for the past two years; is being scaled back. The top CEO's are leaving and the company has closed MANY doors. From what I understand they are also under investigation. So, if you are desperate; go for the job. But, remember that if you relocate; Florida is in bad financial shape. You may be better hanging on to what you've got.
