I was recently hired by Security Industry Specialist, (SIS) a company based in Culver City, CA but has multiple locations in Northern California as well. But its been a week now since they reply back to me. She reassured me that they will get back to me. But I dont know whats going on. But communication on their part is really bad. I tried emailing the recruiting manager but no response. I even called her at her office, tried emailing her and tried reaching her through her cellphone number but no luck. I thought it might be a scam and I was getting a bit worried that they got ahold of my personal information and will misuse it. But it seems like they are a legitimate company because they have a PPO # and they have some reviews on yelp. Any clue as to whats going on with the company? Anyone have any experiences with this company as an employee?

Same thing happened to me here in San Francisco. They interviewed me and told me that I am hired. Then I was told that someone will call me. After 3-4 days a lady called me and said that she's gonna em,ail me a link for background check that I need to complete online form. I did. That's it. Since then no communication from them. I'm kinda worried because they copied my ID, SSC. Don't know what to do...

They are a legitimate company. But their service sucks balls. They will call you back after 7 weeks to work "events". Which is conflicting with my regular job. I told him I cant do weekends. And most of their events are weekends base. Which i am out of luck.

I just seen these posts I applied to these CL posts in Seattle as well as CA and I got phone calls right away about being site manager, intel manager ext with a nice salary. I even went to the site and applied directly. It was real flakey as far as getting a response. One response was an email to call Ted Bianchi. Whats the deal with this company any of you guys take the job and work there?

kawoo860,

I came across a job posting for the Seattle area for SIS and looked at their website, the job was not listed on their site as of today and there was a notification that they had been hit by a scam posting false job offers. I called the number on the website and a woman answered (don't remember her name)and she gave me the voice mail of Christopher Troy. I left a message with him and he got back with in an hour. I explained my concerns about it being a legitimate listing and he said it was months ago and had to do with the New York area. They were not ready to hire for the position yet and there would be more listings coming. The listing I saw was for a security specialist.

I've recently applied with SIS and they contacted me but didn't leave a message and my phone showed a "missed call" so I called them back and this guy answered the phone saying that he got the wrong phone number which it was strange because I put both current phone numbers on the application. And I was told that he was going to call some people back assuming other applicants. If I get a call fine if not I'll just continue to apply for other jobs.

sis is bs, i was hired back in may and was waiting for them to give me assignments within the next couple of weeks, they never did and my emails went unanswered. they repeatedly post ads on craigslist teasing people with high pay which should be a red flag, another red flag is how often they post those ads, if you think about it, if the pay is that great wouldnt one ad be enough?? its the same story for all the other people i spoke with who applied, seems like they hire everyone in order to look good on paper so when it comes time for them to bid on contracts, they can show their potential clients that they have a lot of people working for them, but in fact most of them never worked a single day.

bottom line is dont waste your time going to interview and doing the cheek swab

Yeah SIS wasted my time this one guy in particular left a message on my phone and I called him thinking that is going to be a short call, this fool couldn't remember leaving a message, and he asked me if he left a message for me? and I said yes you left a message on my phone, and he asked for my name THREE times, in my mind now this guy is taking up my time does he honestly think I'm going to call a random person just for the heck of it.? NO. from the time I've applied they have been calling me offering me jobs in San Francisco. when I originally applied for the San Mateo position and three weeks after my interview I was told that the position was filled. eventually they stopped calling me because I kept declining jobs in San Francisco. they got San Francisco on the brain. I'm not going to apply with SIS again.

SIS is a good company to work for I have been employed since April of 2012 and only worked about ooo maybe 2 months cause this is a contract company and i understand that they are called by a company and told i need an officer here tonight for this time to this time then SIS sends it to the supervisor and then it comes to us. Just hang in there it took about a week or so before i got called back. It is well worth it.

SIS does not care nor treat hard working employees well. They have false advertising for compensation and raises. In fact this company once you are hired, will do anything to give you write ups right before your raise is due to prevent one from receiving their raise. They go as far as saying you have a scuff on your shoe so you are written up or you left the breakroom early so we assume you ended your break early which results in a write up even tho it is not required to take your full break within the break room. They don't want to take care of the employees who consistently show up and work hard and their supervisors only care about their position and securing it keeping those below them down. This is not a company where a career path can be made and moving up in the company is non existent. If your looking for something temporary to bridge the gap between jobs go for it but I advise to keep looking for a better place of employment where the company rewards hard work and cares and supports your succes within the company verses keeping you down and not warranting raises when due because they need to stay within budget. I am in shock at how companies like this have not recognized the simple fact that your employees from bottom to top play a very significant role in the growth and success in a company and they should take care of their employees and should support and reward accordingly to workers who work diligently.

Elizabeth, would you want to get in touch with a colleague of mine organizing SIS officers? He'd love to talk to you. Feel free to email me and we can discuss more. Thanks.

SIS Employee in Seattle, Washington

I have been an employee with SIS in Seattle for a little over a year now. Not sure why the comments are all negative. In my experience, I have never been paid incorrectly, I have started at a higher pay than all other security companies in the area, and received a raise after 6 months due to my work and performance. The executive team has shown up often to see how things are going and to address concerns. My experience has been completely opposite of what everyone else experienced. I have even personally heard the executive team thank all of the Specialists for their work because it is them that make the difference. Everyone complaining should probably take accountability for their actions and think about why they didnt meet expectations. SIS is the company to work for here.
