I've recently had 2 individuals say as much, and others over the past 2 years that have hinted at it.

I'm going to graduate from a college part of the MN state colleges and universities system on May 6 with my BS in accounting, and I'm really wanting to get ahead in life.

Have over 2 years of doing mostly temp work in accounts payable, and wasn't that crazy about being a payables clerk ever again, and doesn't really sound like I have to be anymore once I have this degree. And then just recently was employed as a temp as a manufacturing accountant. Got great exposure to what budgets and cost accounting is all about and absolutely loved it. However, it appears that I can't get back into something like that right now because of a lack of experience.

Was told by one of my professors that I should get the degree and then start looking for a general or staff accountant position to build my resume.

Any advice? Thanks.
