1. Tolerance - This is VERY essential as you are at the mercy of others. Service writers make the promises and you are expected to fulfill them. You are expected to be fast, accurate and accountable.
2. Patient - Another VERY essential trait as you will be sitting ALOT during the slow times, when waiting for parts and/or authorization. You will also need this during those tough diagnostic times when the writer promised an answer within an hour for an intermittent problem you have never experienced before on a system you have no diagrams for and off of a description interpreted by the writer from the customer.
3. High aptitude - You are troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, aerodynamic and, in some cases,fiberoptic systems from an interpreted discription. All of these systems combine to form an automobile and effect one another in some way.
