CRA in New York, New York 57 months ago |
I had a bad experience with Aerotek, and I believe you need to watch out for the recruiters there. They are interested in keeping the client happy, not the CRA, and I do not feel they adequately screen or give the correct information with regard to the study they are recruiting for. I did a project with them for about three months and cancelled the contract because what was presented to me initially did NOT match what the company wanted. What can you expect from recruiters who really do not have CRA experience to begin with. When I decided to cancel, I received a ton of unprofessionalism from Aerotek, even though the representative stated, if you are not happy, then please call me and we can make changes. This was absolutely not true. And believe me, the study was a complete mess. If you choose this route, do your homework yourself and don't readily trust them to find out for you - after all, they are there to fill the numbers, not to provide the true details of the project at hand. The beauty of contracting is that you can cancel, and you should cancel if a contract is not right for you, period. I've contracted for about three years now - and it was the first time I felt side-blinded and cancelled on a company. Not a good practice to do, but necessary if these types of situations. There is tons of work out there - so be careful who you choose to recruit with - trust it from a seasoned contractor who knows this industry - and Beware!! Ask the right questions! |

CRA in New York, Maybe you should take you own advice and have asked better questions and not have cancelled your assignment. Of course a firm is going to inevitably have to please a billion dollar client more so than a single CRAs wishes. You sound like a shady person and I would really question your motives for even being in clinical research. Most recruiters choose to work with professionals. You're not. |

Hi shilpa, happy new year to you too.regarding the admission procedure the written test would not be problem at all, last year they just made the candidates do a few simple multiple choice questions and an essay. the interview i have had mixed responses from different people as it depends a lot on your interviewer. if you need details send me your email and i can email them to you. |

you apparently know nothing about contracting, do you? I had the same experience with Quintiles-and here I keep hearing how "wonderful" they are and how well they treat their CRAs . I received no support, no communication due to the total lack of communicatween btw departments there, no site transfer information so I was totally in the dark when I showed up at the site, and was FORCED to launch into 70-hour weeks due to their lack of short-term planning. Did I mention, 2 of the 3 CRAs that monitored before me were fired "for cause"? With ridiculous numbers like that, they fall into the fact that they are just as cuttthroat as everyone else. NONE of this was revealed during my interview, or I would not have gone there. Judgemental people like you should be banned from this site. |

Hi Alam - I am keeping track of your thread and was very curious to know few things. I am planning to get admitted in the CR program - I am in need for lots of information on the entrance test - essay topics, reference materials, etc.. I am doing my best to prepare myself - but still feel sometimes - is my preparation enough? So I would appreciate if you can share some of your experiences - it will be very helpful for me to prepare for the test. Also if you can share - how is the program going on? and how are you feeling - is it in line with your expectations? Thanks. |

I have eleven years of clinical trial experience in both Project Management (4 years) and Monitoring (7 years). I have held the position of Study Manager for a top pharmaceutical company, overseeing and managing study activities in both the US and LATAM for two clinical trials in the therapeutic area of cardiovascular/metabolic diseases. Responsibilities that I have had included managing the study timelines, budgets, PI contracts, monitor report review and as a liaison between the monitor and sites to assist in resolving any site or data issues. I was also responsible for the oversight of vendors (regulatory and DM) and worked closely with the Supply Chain Coordinator for the shipment and inventory of drug supply. I worked closely with the company regional offices in both the UK and LATAM. In additional Project Management roles, I have providing similar services as explained above, for global trials (one for cardiovascular bio-markers and heart failure and the other for a cardiovascular artery stent study). For my 7+ years as a Sr. CRA, I have primarily monitoried cardiovascular studies (hypertension, CABG surgery, DVT and Pulmonary Hypertension studies) and was responsible for the review of CRFs against source documents, reviewed regulatory documents at the site and performed regular drug accountability. For 2 years of my monitoring experience, I was an Imaging Research Associate at a large global CRO, where I would accompany the CRAs on many SIVs and Investigator Meetings in order to train the Radiologist for the imaging portion of the studies I led. My background/training is as a Certified Cardiovascular Technologist and I worked in the Cath Lab for 6 years. I am actively searching for Contract, Regional, Home-based Sr. CRA positions. I reside in Rhode Island and have easy access to the surrounding states (CT, MA, NY and NJ) as well as very convenient access to our local airport. I can be reached at failte_lass@yahoo.com Thank you. |

I'm a CRC in Ontario, and by recruiter, I gather you are looking for someone to recruit for a study, Phase 1. Varies but it would depend upon specifics regarding enrollment procedures - if you are looking for a nurse or not. More specifics and I can direct you. also you can email me off-list at: rasha1_2002 @hotmail.com and I can provide you with some contacts who have the information you are looking for. |

Derek in Tampa, Florida said: CRA in New York, I asked ALOT of questions and was given INCORRECT information by Aerotek recruiters as well as a manager. Seems they don't even know their own clients that well. IF you as a "professional" choose to recruit other "professionals", you need to treat each other as such. A "professional" would not give another "professional" an answer that they know is inaccurate or incorrect. A true professional will state, "I don't know, but I can find out for you". There is NOTHING wrong with having to do additional research as the recruiter to represent your client correctly. Both of my experiences with Aerotek were a bit less than pleasant. I work as a contractor and have always have exceptional reviews, references, etc. I have been doing this for 20 years and I love my profession, but I don't love other so called professionals who don't care to do the appropriate research to get the correct answers about a project. Whether or not you are trying to keep a billion dollar, million dollar client or the CRA community happy is IMMATERIAL when you are giving incorrect and inaccurate information regarding a project. While YOU, Derek in Tampa may not have been the recruiter/manager I have dealt with in the past, I will say that the recruiters from Aerotek that I dealt with were less than knowledgeable. I finished my contracts and will not go back. I figured the 1st exp. was a fluke so I gave Aerotek a 2nd chance & it was worse. I am in a long term contract with another group that has been stellar to work with. |
