What is the best training for becoming an engineering technician? What types of ongoing training or certifications are necessary to be an effective engineering technician?

What do non-traditional career paths look like?

Well, now it appears the industry is looking for not just an inspector anymore, they also want the tech to be versed in CAD and GIS, MS WORD, PowerPoint, Excel, as well as the latest in surveying technology, QA/QC, and Geo-technical...all in one person...then they want to (at least at the State level) pay this person like $10 an hour or in the private sector$15 to $18 an hour......
