How did you get your start doing inventory associate work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position?

Do you need a particular educational background?

An Inventory Associate position is usually a starting position in the realm of inventory mgmt, It's old name was Stockroom clerk or order picker.

Inventory Associates kinda do all bottom tier inventory functions (ie... putting up material from rcvg, cycle counts, gopher duties, order picking and the like).

It all depends on how big the company. At big companies an IA may only put away inventory but at a small company you may do it all!!.

Thw way to move up from an IA position is time, experience with MRP/ERP systems (SAP/JDE)and some good spreadsheet skills. Once you have these skills, the skys the limit..
