Need help in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 63 months ago |
Hi, I have been a resident of OKC, Ok. for 2 years, and I don't believe that I am being paid a fair wage. I have been LPN for almost 15 years. My pay rate here has not been above $16.50 a hour. Per mangagement this is a competative wage. I would like to know from a fellow Okie or anyone else who might know is this true. Also I am thinking about relocating to Galveston, Texas or Tampa Florida. Could someone please tell me the wages for LPN's there? I would really appreciate the help. |

Hey thanks, Kathy in Warwick, Rhode Island that's a very good wage for a new nurse. Sounds like I might be trying to move to the wrong state. How's the weather in the winter? Hey, does any Galveston, Texas or any Tampa, Florida lpn's have any wages to tell me about? Everyone I really do appreciate your answering me, and giving me this information. Thanks again Kathy in Warwick, RI. |

The LPN/LVN pay is not great because basically you're only one step above a nursing assistant. I would suggest going for your RN. You have more options and as you know there is a severe nursing shortage. |
|
Need Help in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 62 months ago |
Hello, Joy in Baltimore, Maryland, thanks for your reply. As I'm quite sure you know, lpn's are nurses, and we are 1 step below associate rn's. I am going for my rn degree; but I still want to know the wages of lpn's. Because that is what my title is at this time. Thanks again for your reply. |

The winters here are cold with snow; summer is warm, hot/humid sometimes. Winter wasn't too cold this year- only a few days less than 20 degrees. We have beautiful beaches here and lots to do in all seasons. We are 1 hour from Boston, 3 hours from the White Mountains in New Hampshire and 3 1/2 hours from New York City. But, I think our cost of living is pretty high here! Good luck to you! |

Need Help in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 62 months ago |
Thanks, Kathy in Warwick, Rhode Island. I appreciate your help. I think I'm leaning more towards Tampa, Florida area. I don't like the cold. So if any lpn's in the Tampa/St. Petes/Clearwater area uses this site. Could you please give me information on the wages for lpn's in this area? The best of luck to you also, Kathy and the rest of our hard working nursing professionals. |

Here in NY you get paid much better through an agency, or, if the institution is unionized. Sad isn't it? Most times, we LPN's do the same work as RN's |

Everyone I really do appreciate your answering me, and giving me this information. Thanks again Kathy in Warwick, RI. I have lived in Orlando,FL. for six years and I have been an LPN for 16 years. I haven't been able to get a wage above $16.00/hr. I left a job in Springfield, Mass. Making $24.00/hr. day shift in 2003. I'm sure their making more now. If a fare wage is what your looking for, you won't find it in Florida! Hope this helps.

underpaid/apparently in Quanah, Texas 59 months ago |
Im not sure what the wages would be farther down south. I live in Northern Texas and have been an LVN for 5 years. I get paid 13.50. Im sure south Texas would be higher considering the larger cities are south and eastern, but that would be in comparison to other parts of the state. My pay is about average for around here. Good luck. Seems I need to think about relocating. This is depressing. |

The winters here are cold with some although this winter wasn't too bad, hardly any snowk and very few days where temp went below 25 degrees. Summer is warm, hot/humid sometimes; fantastic beach weather right now, and we have miles of the beautiful Atlantic ocean with lots of great beaches! We have lots to do in all seasons. We are 1 hour from Boston, 3 hours from the White Mountains in New Hampshire and 3 1/2 hours from New York City. But, I think our cost of living is pretty high here! Good luck to you! |

Hi, well, looking at what wages are around the south, I thought I was getting a fairly decent wage. In this area starting wage begins at $14.50 an hour, I've been working with the same company for over a year and the wage is now $15.92. I work 80%, but I also have paid vacation, sick time, insurance, and a retirement fund. I'm giving all this up to move to the Bella Vista, AR area. Getting rid of some of the cold weather for something warmer, I hope! |

At that time in a hospital, I made 11.75/hr. Its funny how there, the RNs acted as if you were uneducated. I mean, they only have to go to school for 2 years. Niether LPNs or RNs are highly educated. It doesnt seem to me that having 1 more year of courses would make some one too much more intelligent. Anyway, since then I have mad 22/hr in AZ and 26/hr in WA as an LPN. In AZ your considered high class with that wage. RNs in AL only started out at 20 or so. Here in WA in a town full of rich people, they think your poor at 26/hr. Go figure. Does anyone know what an LPN can make in southern CO? |

LPNS in Lancaster County make 18 to 24 dollars in Snfs and less in the local hospitals. The peaceful rural/suburban life here is nice (Amish) and winters are mild. We are 1 hour from Phila and a few hours from Nj and De beaches. Rentals are usually quite reasonable and the housing market is steady. You can rent a 4 br house in Lancaster for 600 a month!

I just graduated with my License of Practical Nursing. Although I am not working as an LPN (because I am continuing my degree for RN) my friend was hired last week on a Med/Surg floor at our small hospital making 16.21/hr. Another girl I know was hired at a long term care center for 14.25/hr. I feel the wages are decent and price of living is cheap (at least here in Lamar). My email address is jessica.cherry2008@yahoo.com if you have anymore questions |
