My encounter with most MA is they feel they are nurses and get an attitude when they find out they are not looked at as a nurse., mostly because the school they go to wants the money and will tell them anything to get it. MA or medical assistants have their place in healthcare, however in most states you do not even need to go to a school to be a MA - you can learn on the job under the direction of a RN\NURSE practioner\PA or MD.
So be carefull when spending alot of money for medical assisting schools.Lvn make more and hold a state lic. They practice under RN supervision but have the knowledge to not have to work under direct supervision of a RN or MD.
MA are not nurses! period, Look it up, its a legal issue and they are not nurses. in every state!! If you want the pay and resposibility of a nurse go to nursing school. Nursing is dynamic ,from lvn- rn to Arnp which can prescribe medication and see pts like a MD. Plus nursing has many unions and political leadership advacats.Just go get you BSN in nursing pass the boards, and become a rn. CM RN BSN
