I would honestly think that they would not allow you to do LVN/LPN online. There is way to much hands on with patients that you can't learn through a computer. Along with that there are required clinical hours that you have to meet.A VN/PN class is only 1 yr/3-4 semesters then you apply to the state for your license. I would make rather pay the money suffer the time and go to class then "learn" patient care online and risk not being accepted at the state.

Okay first of all they don't offer finanical aid you must pay cash, secondly they only take 20 or 25 students I can't remember which one per class, and money is due before the first day of class.

Hey all, there is also an LVN program in Bellflower (near Downey) that a lot of people don't know about.

It is at INFOTECH CAREER COLLEGE, and the cost of the whole program is $19,500, which is a lot cheaper than a lot of private colleges. You can take out the whole amount in a student loan, which you apply for with the college.

Infotech is great about personal attention -- they won't just leave you, they really work with you to make sure you're happy and understand the material.

Also you don't have to work with any one hospital afterwards, you're free to do what you want. Infotech will help you with job placement, and finding a place to work after.

And also, there's no placement test, or prerequisite classes, which is great.

They're located at 16900 S. Lakewood Blvd., #209, Bellflower, CA 90706. Their phone number is (562) 804-1239.

I think their program starts on MAY 19, 2008, so you have to enroll now. They only have 20 or 25 spots.

$19,500!!!! That is alot of money for a LVN program, for that much money you might as well attend a community college program and transfer to a 4 year to get a BSN or something. At most LVN training should cost $10,000 if that.

Hi Melissa:

Actually most private colleges charge $28,000, which makes it a good deal.

Community colleges are cheaper but they only do RN programs, not LVN programs. Also a lot of them have waiting lists, which may mean waiting a year or two before even getting in, and you also need prerequisites. So, instead of wasting a year waiting to get in, maybe another year completing prerequisites, you might as well go straight to LVN school and save one year.....just think, if you can start working as an LVN, you can bridge later on and save all that time, and make money too.

The money you take out in a loan pays for itself once you start working....and remember employers also give you raises based on experience...

So, it just depends what you want, if you can wait a couple years, that's fine, but if you just want to get started, then LVN may be a good option.

Wow, maybe it is that way in California, I dont know. I honestly feel that 28,000.00 is alot. Most community colleges do have LVN programs, basically just the first year of the RN program. I have seen some hospitals do LVN/LPN school as well and that usually run about 9,000 to 11,000. And basically some even pay for whole cost, if you agree to work for them for a certain amount of time.
I know that speaking from my personal experience (and my friends as well lol) that I am sort of blessed that I took the "long" route. I have to admit I did get lucky and get into nursing school rather fast, so I do understand the other end of things.

And with all of the scholarships for nursing, my education paid for itself, so I ended up with BSN with no loans or money due to anyone.

However good luck and I hope that everyone finds the right school for them

hi Theresa,

Their website address is www.infotechinst.com

The area is safe, I never had any troubles. It's just about two blocks away from Lakewood Mall, and it's near a major street.

That's wierd, the phone number, 562-804-1239 should be working. Try it again, and see how it goes.

You can email them too, information_infotech@yahoo.com

Good luck! Maybe I'll see you in this year's incoming class.

Michelle

Good school I graduated from Lynwood high school, the nursing program is about 2,700. payable up front they only take about 25-30 students, I'm not sure which one. They take the highest test scores, and they do clinicals at St Francis hospital, I think the next class starts in september, I'll try to be in it.

No, 19,500, is great all the programs I've seen cost about 24,000. like American Career that's too much money, I went to community college, graduate in 2006, still on waiting list for nursing program.

There is many choices out there from a relative good price LVN program to an a bit pricey program. It is all depend on everyone to choose. There is a person who wants to wait for the term start on September or sooner. Your best choice if you have a patience and time to wait, I genuinely believe the adult school program is a good choice of the price. I understand price can be hard for most of us. I hope you can find a suitable program and price that you feel comfortable with (Downey and others adult school) are offerings a good cost for the program itself. Good luck.

You won't find a on-line lvn program because if you think about it, it really doesn't make any sense, there's too much hands on that you need to know, you can't learn to put in a g-tube, or a catheter on line. Sorry.

No,really there is alot you can acheive online like all your classroom subjects then your clinicals will be done in a hospital setting. It is not very hard. There was one program that did offer it however stopped for some reason. But half the program is in a classroom and out of a book. The necessity would be to link with a local hospital for clinical studies.

If it is online, it should not make a differece that it is in LA right. Unless they only use local clinical sites.
