I am a PBX operator. The skill sets that you would need, is to be able to have a friendly personality, being able to type would not be out of the question, but it is not a requirement, also writing and note taking, is apart of the job as well. Proper phone etiquette is also required, and it is a must. The guest or customer knows, when you are having a bad day, because they can hear it in your voice. Multitasking is definitely a must as well. Being able to operate a fax or copy machine, is definitely apart of the job. Now, because you will be a phone operator, more than likely, you will be wearing a headset, but should always be prepared, to answer a regular phone as well, outside of just wearing a headset. You would should also know how to operate a computer, and know the basic functions of a computer, even if you do not know how to type.
