If you wnat a serious PM Qualification to work in Europe it has to be Prince2 certification.

Can anyone tell me what the US equivilant is I have assumed it's PMI?

The US equivalent is Project Management Professional (PMP), however you may prefer PMI certification relative to your career goals.

Prince2 is a project management qualification, if you are looking for an programme management qualification Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) advanced practitioner is the one you should be thinking about for the european market.
