Getting Experience in Statistics + Degree Programs

I have been teaching elementary statistics (using SPSS) @ a local private college the past five years. I'd like to seek a career as a statistician, but most jobs require experience in statistics as well as an MS in statistics. My background is in IT, accounting, and teaching (both college and high school). I was wondering how you get experience in statistics - I'm willing to take a low level or temp position that deals with creating SPSS or SAS data sets. What temp agencies or consulting firms specialize in placing statisticians @ all levels?

Also, what MS in statistics degree programs are best? I live in the NY Metro Area, but I'm interested in taking online courses.
