Hi Mike,

I'm not sure about the postings but from a recruitment standpoint it looks a little desperate. In any case, I am looking for experienced supers minimum 5 years of experience for a large GC. Position based in Halifax. Let me know if it's of interest.

Kenny I understand the frustration. 25 years in the business, and now 5 months off. I have also posted and sent out in excess of 100 resumes. I have successful projects from $10 million to $450 million and cannot get a telephone call let alone an interview even for a project engineer job. I am even willing to relocate at my own expense anywhere to find work and that is not catching an eye. The best of luck to all the supers out there, we need it.

It is Project dependent but Suffolk Construction is looking for a Type 5 guy. Seems like a great company. They are out of Irvine California. I interviewed but they want someone with extensive type 5 experience. My experience is Type 1 construction mainly. Hope this helps one of you.

they dont have to pay them any money thats why they have no skills it saves them now but later when some problems arise then they will pay double

In the last year I have taken on two projects that were mid way and the so called Superintedent walked off the job and left a mess. As a rule before I take a project that has been started and not completed I will walk it and look it over before I take it on. At that point I will then talk wage. There are a lot of this so called Supers out there that get in over there head becuase they shouldn't have been hired in the first place. If I'm going to clean it up I make the Generals pay or I give them the option to hire another unexperienced want a be. Which I know will cost them more. In the Houston Texas area some companies are paying $50,000 a year to the so called Supers. Then they call me to fix it. If you take on a project know your worth Don't get in on over your head. The work is picking up all over. Don't run down to Texas and sell yourself out. For Commercial construction a good super on projects up to 5 mil start at $80,000 to $100,000. If you work for less chances are you worth less. You get what you pay for and pay for what you get.
