I was invited to test at valero in the houston/texas city area. I have a few questions. First, has anyone tested at valero and if so what is the use of information portion of the test.

How difficult is the test? I have basic mechanical aptitude like gears, pulleys, levers, basic math, etc... Is there anything else the test focuses on. Is the test multiple choice? I heard quite a bit of common sense is on there but also heard it has gotten harder to weed out people.

Any comments would be appreciated. I'm really nervous since this is my first mechanical aptitude type test.

Pretty easy. Some mechanical appitude, a use of information section, and a behavioral portion. Nothing to worry about if you ask me!

Sorry, I am just getting back to you. I am going to assume that you took the test and did well! You should have had enough time to finish each section. The behavioral part is unlimited!

test went well....few strikes...

Yeah, I took the test in Norco about a month ago. My interview is tomorrow. My friend just hired on with Valero and said the interview is all situational. Really laid back group that interviewed him from what he said.

i took the test last Mar or May lol and they called me the beginning of this year for an interview and i had my interview yeserday.

Wasn't my best interview but I think I did ok. My friend just went through the last hiring group which started around october.

I think 25. Top out is 35. Takes 18 months to top out. Great benefits. Pension too which is a plus!

they told u the expected start date was Mar 12? and said it was go be about 2 weeks before u hear anything?

Yup. The HR lady said that we should hear something in few weeks and that the expected start date would be march 12.

Good evening fellow Valero job hunters,

I had the pleasure of interviewing with the folks at Three Rivers last Wednesday. I think it went well but, only time and the HR department will tell...... I was informed that they are hiring 15 this go round and the start date is 05March2012. Good luck to you all!

I'm not sure about Honeywell starting pay but I did just get a phone interview & online test(situational & personality) for Chemical Operator. Now waiting on test results. Also interviewed with Valero Norco early this month and haven't heard anything. u head anything yet ??

I'm sure it was half mechanical/ technical and half behavioural. I took early last year. So u taking test after interview ?? U interview already, right ??? I did test then interview, still no responce from interview 3 weeks ago.

@bwilliams81 Thanks for ur response. I had a very short interview at a career fair. But i was told that I would have another interview if i do gud on the test.I dont think be late for a call. As long as they have not emailed you of thier response then they are still in the decision process. I have applied to various valero positions in the past and they always informed me of there decision not to hire me.
