I've been an RN for 26 years. i would like to work in utilization review but all jobs say they want experience. How does one get experience? What things are important to know for an interview if I get that far please and thanks?

to prepare for the interview it essential to know what kind of UR you are going to do.
The skills required for UR are ability to make timely decisions and
knowledge of clinical findings. In worker comp 99% of injuries
are orthopedic. The UR nurse has to be know the clinical finding associated with carpal tunnel, De Quervain's tenosynovitis etc.
then evaluate the level of functioning, and then evaluate the treatment request and whether it is appropriate and medically necassay to promote recovery.
