My fiancee is looking for a truck driving job and has had no luck. He got his class A cdl in May of 2007. He worked for Covenant for a few months straight out of driving school, then found out that his dad had cancer. He took time off to help him, then went to work for Swift in October. They found an error on his cdl, which was found to be a clerical error from the dmv, but was put on safety hold until it could be fixed. He relocated here in Illinois with me and his license is from Missouri, so it took some time to get the problem fixed(multiple 5 hour drives to Missouri). By the time it was fixed, Swift no longer wanted to employ him. He then was hired by McLeod, but his dad took a turn for the worse and he had to take more time off. He then worked for USA and the same happened. His dad passed away from his cancer on Nov. 1, but now no one wants to hire him. He has a clean driving record and criminal background, but that doesn't seem to matter. The companies keep saying he has too many gaps in employment even though he explains about his dad. Does anyone know of a company that would give him a break?
