I will be going to be going to school in the fall for marketing and research to obtain a degree. Bill Logan in Cleveland, Ohio 53 months ago	My background is in broadcast communications, institutional media, production script writing and commercial / residential carpentry. I'm attempting to learn more about technical writing with the hope of developing a work history in tech writing before the bulk of the work is shipped overseas. Hope the rumor isn't true. Anyway, I'm also very interested in the current trend toward sustainability and the use of "Green" practices for use in residential and commercial living/work spaces. So, if you marry sound writing skills with a background in construction, education, media, sustainability and technology, what do you get? I'll post another comment when I find out. I have been in sales for most of my career, since the 80's, and the Cleveland jobs market is definitely the toughest ever. I've sent out over 400 resumes since May of last year (2008) actually had about a dozen interview but have failed to make the connection for one reason or another. If the position is salary plus commission there are 200 to 500 salespeople going for the same position. It's always someone else has better experience, is younger, better looking, is perceived to take less money for the position etc. I haven't lost hope but I am looking in other directions. Thus far all other positions want a matching degree plus experience. My degree in Management and Psychology are pretty much of no help. And people I sincerely believe it's going to get worse before it gets better. We are going to have to learn to live with less, make less, pay less, stick to a budget and pare the budget down. I don't like to spell gloom but facts are what they are and I only hope that I am wrong. The best jobs board I have found is ohiomeansjobs.com So, if you know anyone looking for a determined sales person with the old fashioned work ethic, please by all means, have them contact me.
