I currently live and work in Britain but I would like to move to America and work in Las Vegas for a year or so. Has anyone out there already done this. How hard was it and how did you go about it. At the moment I am just planning to apply for lots of jobs in the hotels and casinos nearer the time I want to leave but if you know of a better way, please let me know. I know that I will need to find a company that will support my visa request. Any help would be great. thanks.

hi angie, i am trying to do the same, i think there are some companies that will seek sponsership on your behalf for a fee but i dont know how reprible they are, so be careful.
The ony way u will get there is through sponsership/family/marrage/investment into a company of $250,000 min

Hi Guys, be careful who you deal with, if a company wants you they will sponsor you for free.

I moved here to Las Vegas from Scotland and found a sponsor, the best advice I can give you is find a great Attorney, he/she will guide you thru the process.

I will give you any advice based on my experience

Do NOT move out here. I have lived her for 12 years, and this is the worst economy. I have been out of work for six months and I am highly skilled and educated.

Stay where you are, trust me.

I dont think you`ll have much luck especially coz of the recession. You need to be sponsored to work in America and i dont think a company would be willing to go through all the paper work when they can just post an add in the local agency. Unless you have a specialised profession. I tried but had no luck, i work as an electrician. Theres all types of work over there but more hotel/bar/casino type jobs. Try Austalia.

Hi Jaide, right now is not the best time to apply for anything here, after the recession will be the best time to start looking. I was fortunate to be specially trained and qualified, and even then it took several years for me to my Green Card

Las Vegas was a Boom Town Several Years ago and all of the big Casinos were hiring. Today (June 23, 2010) Las Vegas is a (DEAD) Zone for Jobs. Hunny! Stay on the Farm or back in Turkey. There are just (NO) Good Jobs here in Las Vegas. Unless you would like to work at a Wall Mart or a Target ! I am Sorry, (BUT) to many people have Moved to Las Vegas and there are just no (GOOD) Jobs Left!

I'm also looking for a work sponsor in Vegas but dont know the best way to go about it, I'm thinking about hiring an attourney if thats my best option. Not specially qualified or have valuable experience in a high demand field, i just want to enter the tourism industry if possible. Hotels.. Casinos.. Airport.. anything like that. So is hiring an attourney my best option?

Going over on a visitor visa this July to start thinking about this more seriously, get an idea of how best to apply for the right visa for when im back in my home country.

Not a current student either, that would have made this 100 times easier in the visa process.

If anything happens and im successful, i'll let you know on here. :)

There are jobs out there maybe not so much on the strip but, more on a local scale. I know my company struggles hiring dependable people and does alot of hiring.
