I would say that companies in the hospitality, education, and health care industry are what is driving the Orlando economy. Large employers like Walt Disney World are great to work for if you do not need a paycheck. Benefits are great but, that does not pay the bills. I think we all know education does not pay well here in FL either so that leaves health care. If this is your field Orlando may be for you since we are growing and there are lots of room for advancement with all the new medical facilities being built. |

I've been in Orlando now for almost 5 months and was employed by Disney through their Career Start Program. The program is now over and I will be attending DeVry University in Orlando to study Simulation Programming Begining in March. I am looking for a part time job to pay rent and buy food ect. I was an employee at a CVS Pharmacy (front store, retail) for just shy of 2 years before moving to Orlando to take on the Disney CS program. I've sent job apps in to around 20 companies with no luck. Shadowing opportunies in the IT field woudl be appreciated aswell. -Jared |

Tamra Curtis in Ocala, Florida said: If you would like to work part time until you find something full time then lem me know. Hi Tamra, My fiance is having a hard time finding any work in the Orlando area. He says most of the jobs he's inquired about don't like hiring students from MMI. He says that most of the students are younger than he is and aren't really serious about working so they just don't like hiring them. So he is jobless and may end up having to quit school if he can't find something quick. The job market is even worse here in Kentucky so we thought he would be better off in school and trying something different for a change. If you still have any work avaliable we'd be grateful...he only has until April until he graduates. I'd just hate to see him come all this way and end up having to leave because there's no work. |

The job market in Orlando is very bad right now. Unemployment is very high. I work for one of the largest employers and we had an opening for an accountant and at least 40 people met the minimum qualifications. So many from out of state transplant themselves here, without any connections and networking it is going to be difficult. It can be done, you just got to work really hard to find a job. Wish you the best. |

NILSA ALVARADO in New Haven, Connecticut said: I AM MOVING TO FL SOON AND IAM INSPECTOR,AUDITOR FOR BOEING AEROSPACE I WILL LIKE TO HAVE AN IDEA OF JOBS IN ORLANDO, KISSEMME OR AROUND TAHT AREA. THANK YOU A word of advice, stay where you are if you are still employed. Our area is a right to work place, not conducive to working families. If you do move our way make sure you have a job lined up. Our unemployment rate in Florida is a higher average than most all other states in the union. I am an employment specialist and see more people leaving this area than staying.
Our area will give you fun and sun, period. Kennedy space center is waiting to hear if 1,000's will lose their jobs in the near future. Florida does not have a good outlook. Not what you want to hear, but the truth. Look in your larger metropolitan areas. Good Luck in your future endeavors, |
