I don't know of any other way to let you all know about this injustice. If you go to Google and type in: The Work Number, you will find all sorts of companies listed in their database. This is an outsourcing company that "relieves the pressure" of employers having to do employment verifications and loan verifications. Companies across America are subscribing to this company to handle the HR workload for them. I will tell you my story: I have been unemployed for almost 9 months, I am actively seeking employment, I have been on way too many interviews (sometimes 3 or 4 with the same company), only to find out that "they've decided to hire the other candidate". I have investigated and found that my former employer is reporting through The Work Number that I was employed by them for 1 month (I worked for them for 8 years), and that my job title was Pensioner (my job title was Manager for 8 years), and that my wages were garnished (my wages have never been garnished a day in my life). I tried to have my former employer's HR Dept. correct this error, and I was told that they cannot and will not correct this, and that because I rolled over my 401k when I left, that I have entered the Pensioner pay class and it reflects the way it does at The Work Number. To add further, I was also told that this has affected everyone who left this company who has either cashed out or rolled over their pension or 401k. If your company's name is on The Work Number's database, it would be in your best interest to investigate as I have. They have a customer service number to call on the website to get a "sample listen" of your own employment verification. Good luck to all of you. |
