Just Received Notice - Two Weeks Until End of Contract... and Unemployment

I just received notice that I have two weeks left and I'll be unemployed... again. I was on a twelve month contract with a two month extension but that's as far as they can go. I work in the IT sector performing production support for the big financials and have been doing contract work since mid 2009. I was down-sized in late 2008 and it took eight months to find anything. This really sucks. Any words of advice, tips, leads would be greatly appreciated.

I was contracted with an outside vendor through the firm where I am currently. I was hoping it would've got extended but it's not to be. I have been working steadily through two outside vendors since August of 2009 so I would think I can collect unemployment. I'm more concerned with having another gap in my resume as I was out of work from Oct. 2008 through Aug. 2009, initially. I need to find a fulltime position desperately. I can't handle this contract nonsense.

Now, it's fairly common in this industry to go from one assignment to another. A lot of outsourcing has resulted and all the support work appears to be just contracts. These firms don't want to hire fulltime with benefits. God forbid they tarnish their profit and revenue margins.
