I'm sure I posted on here that I deleted my Linked In account some time ago after being horrified about people being able to see that I'd viewed their accounts. Well, at least I thought I'd deleted it.

I just searched myself, and sure enough my basic account with only my name is still up. The problem is that anyone who looks at it can see the last five accounts I viewed. Now, I cannot even access the account because my email and password no longer link to an account, so this basic account and viewed list seems permanent.

If you delete an account, your name shouldn't show up at all. And the last five accounts you viewed definitely shouldn't show up. The only good thing I can say is that none of the five is an ex-girlfriend or former co-worker. Whew.

Any suggestions? It's garbage that they keep this information posted. And seeing who's viewed your account is asinine. Linked In isn't a dating site.

I don't know what to tell you. I have always said, we need more jobs and less Internet card tricks.

Next, they will tell me that to find a job, I will need to sign up with Match.com.

Yeah, I figure it's likely permanent. You know, when you delete your account, you expect it to be deleted. It's not a big deal that it's still out there because it shows nothing. I just don't like the last five people I viewed showing on it permanently. It will be 2030 and people will think I just looked at them. Stupid.

The company that I work for now uses a 3rd party for background checks and I understand that (for a small fee) they can now check your Internet Presence.

I am pretty boring so I don't have to worry - yet. It just annoys me that companies are now "profiling" job applicants. Its very Orwellian.

After reading your post I was curious because I also deleted my Linkedin account a couple months ago. I just tried searching for myself and absolutely nothing came up. Your situation seems odd to me. Maybe try emailing their customer service and request they remove your name.

Well, I submitted the two email addresses I have to try to recover passwords so I can get this profile down. I am positive I already did this long. This is why I won't ever really (wink) join FB. There's no way I'm volunteering all that to the world forever. That's insane.
