How do you know if a site is posting a spam ad? Seems to be a lot on CareerBuilder. Obviously if they are asking for any personal info or money I know its a phishing scam, but what about going through the legitimate process of an on-line app. etc. for a real company? And what is the point of putting out spam ads anyway?
I usually try to find the company on-line and verify the position is open through their website, but if the opening isn't listed on the company site does that mean the ad is spam & shouldn't apply?

If you are on Careebuilder, its probably spam.

They don't have a forum and you know why? They don't want to listen to all your yammering.

I hope that I'm misinterpreting your comment & that it wasn't intended to be rude & unnecessary.

That's bluetea humor.

CB is chock full of spam ads, fake ads and recruiter ads. I'm being redundant in naming all three.

I don't respond to recruiter ads on CB. Period. End of story.

Ads on CB where the employer is named, you can take as legit.

Ads that are blind, you should read very carefully to determine if they are fake and/or recruiters. If the ad references "our client" or "this company," it's a recruiter and you can forget about responding.

Overall, CB is full of garbage/fake/spam/recruiter ads. I may find one ad every week or two there to which I can respond. Some are just bad hits or in areas where I don't have experience that are legit. I'd say it's around 5% legit ads for me, and 1% to which I can respond. Recruiters and agencies post 80% of the ads on CB.

CL is a better job site.

You weren't misinterpreting anything. Careerbuilder is full of spam. Most of us have said goodbye to CB long ago.
