So, I'm looking at my life and I don't know what to do with it. I'm a 26 year old college drop out working a part time low paying job, over my head in debt from school loans and credit cards, and I pretty much have no talent or skills to speak of. I have hobbies/interests but I have no idea how to turn those things into a job/career. I just feel very stupid, and unprepared for life. And I look around for available jobs and find nothing that I'm qualified for. I've got no idea what I should or even can do to get out of the hole i'm in. I'm drowning here. Suggestions anyone?

Follow your interests and maybe for a short order career you may want to try something like truck driver. That won't take long to learn at all and it pays ok. There are also 6 month careers to get your feet wet in different areas to see if you like them. Maybe police academy or paramedic or a mechanic if you like working with your hands. Start with researching something you really like or at least have interest in and see how you can make money at it and go from there. Good luck to you and keep your head up and have confidence in yourself

Murphy has a great idea re "Follow your interests...." While you're looking about for some paying work, you might want to volunteer in a field where your interests/hobbies can be helpful to others. Not knowing what those interests are, one can't be very helpful in suggesting such possibilities to you. However, know this; you are of course NOT stupid, just a bit adrift right now. Talk to lots of people about the problem of what to do about your work/career life and I promise you'll get tons of advice, some of which might even urge you to imagine new possibilities. Best wishes, and keep talking about this.

Looking back on my life, I'd agree with the join the military. You'll gain life experience and learn a skill that you can use. Don't wake up 25 years from now and still be in a corner-sign up today.

There is no one that can help you. It's only going to get worse. Everything you are talking about and complaining about is all the past. Look forward and forget what you think you have or have not accomplished. Solely look forward with optimism; every single day is a new opportunity. From experience, I know that every single person has so much talent they will never be able to use it all in one lifetime.
It seems like you don't know a whole lot about yourself. Start studying yourself and start doing things because you want to, not because you feel you have to. I was told once that there are 20 different ways to accomplish anything, and it is so true. Confidence is nothing more than stating an intention and doing it without any worry as to how one will achieve their goals and without regards to what anyone else believes. That's success. Just decide. Instead of dwelling on all of these things from the past and present, sit down and write out all of the things you want. Then everyday make a list of 6 things you can do to work towards accomplishing them. Be persistent. If you don't have goals you will become bored, stagnant, and depressed. Keep your momentum going.

Some ideas:

1. Move in with parents if you can (I know it’s not always possible).
2. DO NOT go to expensive private colleges. Go to your local community college and pick a general AA degree to start. That will expose you to different subjects and you might find something that sparks your interest. AND as a benefit, because you’re in school full-time, you can have your student loan payments DEFERRED! You can go to state university later to finish the degree.
3. While in school, interview people in your target career. I once got an architect to allow me to interview him about his field just because I was interested in it! He even let me record him!
4. Also while in school, take internships in your target career. (Yes, paid or unpaid.)
5. Don’t discount TRADES. Hairstylists, nail techs, plumbers, welders, electricians, etc. frequently have their own businesses. Why not you too? Not everyone can or wants to be a lawyer or accountant.
6. Finally, don't use the credit cards anymore. ☺

Keep in mind that you will be 30, 35, 40 years old one day. The question is, will you be that age with or without an education and experience and direction?

Keep in mind the LONG-TERM benefits of education (whether college or trade school). Don’t just consider today’s paycheck, as tempting as it might be. (Trust me! I made bad choices at your a
