Is there anyone besides me that feels resentment and anger when being around someone who's complaining about their job, or simply whining about having to go to work in the morning? Since I've been out of work for nearly 3 years, I seem to be hyper-sensitive or something - I don't know. To me, having a store cashier complain to you (a customer) about her hours or how tired she is (after you ask her how her day is going) gets me so mad. I wanna ask these people -- 'you wanna trade places with me??' This happened to me about 3 different times. Unbelievable!

I don't mind when they complain, because a lot of their jobs DO suck. I was a cashier over the holidays at Sears. Let me tell you....their job SUCKS. Or at least, it does here. They start you $2 under minimum wage, tell you you'll make up the rest in commission (you don't), and then randomly change your start time to 7AM for their sales that no one comes to that early. Oh yeah, and no health benefits. I DO mind when people look down on me like some scum-of-the-earth. I must be lazy. I'm not trying hard enough. I should go die and make room for someone more useful. The arrogance of some of these people (especially HR types) really makes it an effort not to deck one of them. I have more work experience, educational experience, and outright brains and good looks than 95% of the people making employment decisions, and I have to beg THEM for $10/hr? It's disgusting, and there isn't another word for it. |

What else can we do if we can't find work that will pay the bills. Is anybody else losing sleep at night cause of no jobs and people with jobs are always complaining. I am starting to get desperate if I don't find work very soon. |

Hi " Need a job.." I can sympathize with how frustrating it must be to be looking for work. I'm not in the same boat as you and I hope things go well since your interview, but perhaps you can look at things in a different way: I'm an RN and see sadness and grief daily. But even though some say to me that pain and suffering is relative, it doesn't negate what that particular person is going through. Sure, I can tell myself all the time that I'm glad I don't have cancer, and I do, however I also have real, emotional and serious issues of my own that affect me greatly. Just because I may be doing better than others in some areas doesn't always translate into the "Everythings' Fine" approach. I do have a job, and I posted on another forum about it on a related issue, but it's badly affecting my overall mental and physical health, my home and my family not to mention I took a huge pay cut. I am not desperate to find a job but I have been desperate about trying to find a way out and restart my life elsewhere. That old "soul sucking job" description? Well I'm in it up to my neck and about to resign. Maybe for some, they cannot understand that. But maybe we all can just be a bit more supportive of the fact that we all have different problems going on in our lives, some big, some small, but they all count to that person. That's how I try to look at it anyway. Good luck to you~ |

If someone felt really tired with his work, the best solution is not to complain but to find another job that will make him happy. |
