the only thing that I would guard against is telling an interviewer that you are "a people person." If you have skills in working with people, or leading a team, say that. The people person thing is very overused.

First of all, do not despair. If you're getting the interview, there must be something good on your resume that's getting a response. Think practically. Check out your appearance before going on the interview. Make sure you're together no matter what the interviewer looks like. I've been interviewed by people in sloppy jeans and shoes. Read your resume over so that you can respond when they ask you a question about it. Never bad-mouth your last job. Sound diplomatic. Have a can-do attitude. Also, show an interest in what their company needs. Ask questions about the job. Let them bring up the subject of money. Or leave that to your recruiter.
There's not always a right or wrong about what to do on an interview. Remember, you're dealing with a human being—if the chemistry isn't there, it isn't there. And they have problems, too. Think of one or two things about your profession that you really like. Can't hurt. And it could give you the enthusiasm to enter the room. And, oh yeah, it's OK to like yourself.
