I had an interview with UBS for an IT position about 4 weeks ago. I had three in-person meetings, interviewed with six people for a total of six hours. Nothing. Not a response, not a rejection, not a follow-up, nothing. I left two phone messages and an email for the UBS HR contact and nothing. As of next week, I am unemployed again for the 2nd time in three years. This, because all that is available is contract work despite living in the NYC area.

I talk to numerous recruiters, head-hunters and HR people on a weekly basis and all I've been able to get is a sh1t and a promise. To Senior Management of these companies: keep squeezing blood from a stone. If it's your desire to have guys like us live off the dole, then by all means, keep paying into the system and we'll keep taking. One thing is for sure, you're certainly not getting any of us to purchase your investment products anytime soon.

Six people and six hours of interviews? What is with these companies and their wasting everyone's time with all this interviewing? Employers really have too much time on their hands if they can waste this much time. I would think a decision could be made much more quickly.

I'm fairly certain that a decision has been made by now but one would think that they can at least let you know. Also, I gave up a total of 12 hours of work time so that I can attend these interviews. As a contractor (I hate that term), you are not paid for time off so that is lost wages. As it is, I don't have any benefits and I have children. This was a permanent position, too. How much more do they want us to stretch?

Six people, six hours of interviews. Seems to me these decision makers are justifying their own job by creating a process that is convoluted, complex and a hodgepodge of hiring chicaner and keeps them busy. Multiply your experience by the others they have replicated this same scenario with ... it is absurd. People secure positions, often, by knowing someone. This is the key. If you are not on the inside you are on the outside sitting at job boards in a seemingly endless loop of of callbacks, follow-ups, personality test(s), and in the end, you end up here.

Talk about interviewing with six different people, my mother was a telephone operator at the Four Seasons Hotel here in Philadelphia. When you apply for a job there, and they call you, you have four interviews. First with Human Resources. Then with the department supervisor, the department manager, and then the general manager. Since it's a high-class hotel, they have to be picky about who they hire.

I have applied on line with the Four Seasons Atlanta. I received a response that says that they will be in touch in ten days if they are interested. Five days have passed - still no word. How long do they generally take if they are interested? I also want to know if they retain old applications. I applied aa couple of years ago but was late to the interview and turned away immediately. Do they toss the old application information?
