Veronica in Chicago, Illinois 6 months ago	Over the past month and especially starting the week of Thanksgiving it is slow. Not seeing jobs to apply to and nobody is even calling me in for interviews. Did employers just write 2011 off already? If it is dead now, it will not improve till after the New Year when new budgets are in place. Guess the December unemployment will not go down to 8.2%. - Was this comment helpful? Parafreegal in Chicago, Illinois 5 months ago	It historically and traditionally is slow at this time of year, but you should continue to look anyway, even though the job sites seem to be barren lately. I had a spate of interviews 3-4 months ago but have only had one in the last three months, but my field is reeling big time and many of the jobs have gone away and don't seem to be coming back. - Was this comment helpful? designer bee in Waukesha, Wisconsin 5 months ago	I haven't even seen that many jobs online to apply to since early Nov. I'm guessing there won't be much until after January, which tends to be a slow month. Two years ago at this time I did get hired right before Christmas and started right after New Year's. The ones that I did go on never call you back, so maybe it is better to not go on them vs going on them, wasting gas only to never hear from them again, as if you don't even exist. - Was this comment helpful? I would have wanted to punch the guy for saying that. Time to wake up, Mr. President. I have a feeling all of our politicians have no clue how bad it really is out there. At one unemployment seminar, the guy said, "All these problems with the job market were happening, back when you HAD that good job. Just because you are unemployed, why should anything change?"
