I have had many interview rejections. They tell me that they will be interviewing other candidates at the closing of the interview. I often feel like I am the first one that they interviewed. (Some said I was either the first one or they are just starting the process). Most times it is between 1 & 2 weeks before the rejections letter arrives if they send one. It usually states that they selected another candidate who more closely met their needs. They even told me where I would sit or when I can I start giving me false hope. Many of the rejections letters are worded very similar, so they looked at an interviewing tips book for the wording. But I have also seen the ad reposted, so it makes you wonder if they ever hired that other candidate that they claim in the rejection letter, or just send that kind of form letter to all the candidates that interviewed for the job.

I've run into the same issues as well. I didn't get the job, but its still posted months later. I believe the job is still open, but companies are boeing so fussy they end up hiring no one

I have another thought. When you look at the Sunday paper, and you see a company logo, but no job, that means the company owns that space and they have to put something in it.

My guess is internet jobs are the same. The company has paid for that space, and it's easier to keep track of their space if something is in it.

As long as they keep running ads for the same position, they're not going to hire anybody. They're going to continue to hold out for the "perfect" candidate. Well I've got news for them: there's no such thing as a "perfect" candidate. People are going to make mistakes. They should give somebody a chance.
