My husband had a job interview for a VA job on March 18 2012. He said his interview went well. They said they would let him know either way. He called them back on April 6th to ask about the status of the position and to express his interest in the position still. The lady he spoke with says they usually send her a letter of prospects or something like that. She told him she has not received any information. He still has not heard anything. Can someone please tell me if this is typical with VA jobs? Any advice or insightfulness would be appreciated. Should he call again next week?

Yes he should call.

My older brother is a Navy Vet and is a nurse at the VA but I remember him telling me that the HR dept at any VA is very slow to process the hiring of any person. He would call to let them know he was still interested in the position he applied for. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Good luck.

Don't stress. The VA is slow. I have a family member working for the VA for several years and only now are they starting to run the background checks. It's the government, after all.
