questions follow up telephone interview CIBC

i had a telephone interview on Monday with CIBC. The recruiter said it would take couple days for the hiring manager to review the interviews. I sent out a thank you letter to the recruiter and i will call in this afternoon to follow up the status of the position.

*My question is, should i get rejected (really scare), would it be offensive/impolite to ask the recruiter to refer me to different position which is identical to the other one (similar job description, same qualification and requirement). Im afraid the company wont consider my profile for different position ever again after a failed interview.

I suppose you could try. It would matter how big the employer is. If it's small, I'd say no. If it's big, then try. Different folks could be involved in the process than were involved the first time.
