Alright, I have attempted to beef my resume up but I will be the first to admit I am rusty in the industry and the career path I am striving for. Here is my honest situation and would love some insight from some experienced professionals or suggestions from anyone for the matter:
I general managed 2 small businesses in the time from 04-late 07. One of them was a business my parents owned for 25 years and the other one was a massage clinic that my father decided to gamble on and that I eventually attempted to revive but later proved to be a failure due to the market and whatever the other reasons may be. I implemented the software massage clinic that handeled all transactions and that allowed us to do payroll, forecasts, budgets, inventory etc.....
After that I reached a turning point, and decided to go and travel around the world for a year. So, I got back last april and have not had any luck in finding a job. I have been putting down that I was working as a recruiter for the past year to fill in the time gap though.
Now, I finally know what I want to do and I dont know the best way of going about it. In college I majored in accounting and finance and had a passion for it then, but got off track when I decided to go back home and work for the parents running their businesses. At the time of graduation, I felt really satisfied and confident with the skills and "know how" of accounting and finance. But now, 5 years later- do not feel too confident and am not given much consideration from employers with the experience on my resume. That is not to say that I dont think I am capable. I think alot of it will come back to me. I dont even care about salary at this point. I even tried at some internships, and that is a "no go." I do not have any experience in the corporate world and do not know systems and software other than your standard "office suite." how do i get looked at? pmp? six sigma? mba? occupation- financial advisor role? appraisal role?-starting titl

what is a good entry position? I am just trying to get the skills back in addition to learning business processes/systems/software and so forth. Thought about going for some master certificates like pmp, six sigma, mba etc....would that help my resume even with my previous work experience mentioned?
