I recently applied for an online job that i know i'm qualified for and expected two weeks or so before i got a response but got a response immediately that i'm not needed and i suspect my resume to be the culprit. The biggest challenge i'm having is how to describe my experience as a computer technition. I have repaired peoples computers since I was 15 so I have come across every problem you could think of, but i did this in a small town for 40 bucks a pop, just a way to earn extra cash. So i never worked for anyone else but built quite a reputation where i live as the guy that'll fix your computer when no one else can. So here is my best attempt to describe this, and I though self-employed was the best way but from what im reading is probably doing the opposite for me, Any advice would be greatly appreciated. www.dbhelix.x10.bz/resume.doc |

Dear stoicacceptance, You mFight be right about the self-employed not working. I think the thing that you might focus on is what you did for your client. For example, say someone had trouble with email. Tell what you did to fix it briefly. Even better is any of your clients used their machines for work or their own business. Try to come up with a value of what you service provided. Again for example, fixed a Eudora mail problem that was costing my client $500 sales lose a day because she could read her email to see an order. If you send some statement about some of the problems that you help solve and for who (not name, just some kind of id), maybe I can help you craft some statements. For free! |
