I am employed in the pharmaceutical industry.

I have updated my resume and I believe I have gotten as far as I can on my own and would like help formatting and presenting my skills and past accomplishments in the best light.

I am willing to pay $300-350 for some help, but I am confused, as there seems to be a lot of shady resume companies out there.

Jobfox was recommended to me, but there a a ton of complaints about their service.

Does anyone know of a reputable and reasonably priced resume service that can help me present my skills and accomplishments in the best format ?

thanks for any help,

John

Anyone ?

I am trying to find a good resume service ( online is ok, too). I need a professional to look over mine and suggest changes, etc.

If anyone knows of a reputable service, or has had a good experience, I would be interested to know.

thanks !

John

You don't want "just anyone" doing your resume. Your resume should be formatted for your particular field.

As a "very new" looking-for-a-job teacher, for our internship, we redid our resumes - formatted by Ph.D's. This resume lists my education first, certifications, classes (with instructors), then my previous employment.

Your resume is to speak for you. List your education first. Then list your certifications. Then list what's most important, a certain job, volunteer work at X, specialized classes. Then list your jobs.

Thanks everyone, I found a real-live person to help me put the final touches ( mostly formatting) on my resume. I just don't trust the online services.

Good luck with your job search.

My resume was pretty much done. I agree with the earlier poster that it is a great exercise to gather all of the data and info. for your resume. There were things about myself and experiences that I had totally forgotten about...that look good on a resume.

I just don't know how to format it.. and after hours of getting the content together, I am more than happy to pay someone $150.00 to format it, etc.

I am fortunate in that I am still employed, but I want to have my resume tight and ready to go should things change, etc.

AskLizRyan.com has some great things to say about writing an effective resume! (No, I am not affiliated in anyway. I'm just a delighted customer.)

First I'm not offended. Your just wrong. Someone asks for help finding a reputable resume writing service and you stroke your own ego about your resume writing skills. You didn't offer those skills or proof thereof. How is that helpful to anyone including the original poster? It isn't.

As far as being a shill. I'm certain you have to have something to sell to be considered a shill. I don't sell any products or services. Apparently "knowing what a word means" is one of your excellent skills along resume writing.

What I do is see plenty of people who be best served if they did not try to write their resumes themselves.

As far as proof. I review resumes and job applications for a living. I see what stands out all the time.

Maybe we should all move to India. Cheap housing, cheap medical care, good fruits, and lots of American jobs.

I always question the advice of people who don't know the difference between "your" and "you're". Just sayin

Why don't you drop by the library. They have numerous and new resources for coverletter and resume. They're free to the community, you just have to return it on time. Also use your skills you have acquired as a student, it is a good mental excercise. Challenge yourself.Just my one cent opinion.

Be cautious about resume writing services. There is nothing wrong with having someone review yours but, you don't want to use a service that has many clients and end up having a pretty generic resume. Your resume should be clear and concise and, you should use it to highlight your skills and strengths. How can someone you don't even know do that for you? You don't want to apply to a job with a resume that other people have (even if the formatting is the only thing that is the same).

I was just reading www.unfinishedman.com/resume-to-interviews-review-ready-for-a-new-job/ and they recommend www.resumetointerviews.com. I have been using this service and we are still in the middle stages, but it is shaping up very nicely.
