Does anyone have advice about how to list an au pair job on your resume? I googled "au pair on resume" and found resumes FOR au pairs...however, I'm not looking to get another job in childcare, I would just like to include my work as an au pair on my resume. I did standard nanny things: make breakfasts/lunches, took the kid to and from school, babysat over school holidays, etc. I'm currently looking for work in a clerical/administrative setting, so I'm not sure my au pair experience would even be applicable, but it's my current job and I know I will get a good recommendation from my employers. Ideas? |

It may not be related to your current professional objective, but you can mention how this experience made you a mature person, who's able to deal with all the kinds of people and circumstances (often in a different language), how the job made you more responsible - after all, you were responsible for a child's life, and that shouldn't be taken for granted. If you don't want to mention it in the resume, at least talk about it at the job interview... |
