Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field? What skills should you learn to increase your salary? |

Some colleges pay more than others, but the pay is generally low, with no benefits. I don't know where the figures for adjunct faculty salaries on this website come from (average $54,000!!) I've been doing this for ten years and make less than half that. The community college where I teach pays about $750 a credit hour, so for a 3 credit class $2250. Full time load is 5 classes, which you won't get as an adjunct. Do the math--$22,500 annual. This is typical. Don't bother getting the required graduate degree to do this. You can make more money waiting tables or anything else that doesn't even require an undergraduate degree. Higher ed is shooting itself in the foot claiming that an education is valuable and then paying educators peanuts. Adjuncts are now the majority of college faculty today. |
