Most employers want to know your salary requirements when you apply for a job online, some even state that without salary history they will automatically discard your application. When I state my range it is based on my last job. But I am willing to take less to get a job. I am sure that most employers realize that people will take less in this economy. I don't know how much lower they will shoot from what I earned in the past, but if they are say $5k lower will they extend that offer to you if they really want you to work for them? I do state that the salary is negotiable in the cover letter so they know that I am flexable. If anyone has recently had an offer how low to they go from what you stated you made in previous jobs? I guess I have the choice to refuse if too low, but I guess people will take anything today to put food on the table and pay the bills, and eliminate the cable if need be.
