Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

What skills should you learn to increase your salary?

Most Colleges will pay between 28 and 35 thousand for entry level positions. For upper level management it will depend on the size and level of prominence of the college

I've seen admissions counselor/recruiter salaries posted in the range of 30K - 45K in the same market (Upper Midwest).

Out West you will average 35to 50 K if you can produce. Some of our best sales/ Admissions reps have made 70K.
Regardless of what anyone tells you, it is a sales position. If the money does not come in through the front door, the school can not make it happen for the salaried professors, H.R. Administration and so on.
Online schools that have big commitments to stadiums and real estate must enroll at every opportunity. They also must make money for the parent company and the share holders.

It all comes down to who gets the most leads and basic sales.
