Hello I'm Dee and I have a condition known as Spasmodic Torticollis and Essential Tremor both in my neck area. I want to know if haveing such a condition make it difficult to perform medical treatments if I chose a career in Aesthetics?

Hi Dee,

As an aesthetician for over 10 years and a medical aesthetician for 5...I would really caution you with this choice for a career. Any aesthetician whether it be clinical or spa, needs to have a steady hand. This is a must (in medical)because you are performing extractions, applying chemical peelings, etc. Additionally, your massage portion of the treatment also needs to be steady, calm, and always maintaing contact with your client.

If you are really interested in aesthetics you could license and go into skin care sales, or another aspect of the industry without being "hands on." Good Luck in your endeavor.

I'm Dee Foderingham, a licensed Cosmetologist with at least fouteen years education and training from a certified Aesthetics program. As a skin care professional my clientele have benefited from my advanced training at the International Dermal Institute (IDI)allowing me to offer personalized facial and body care treatments. My next endeavor is to further my career in the industry as a Certified Medical Aesthetician/Specialist. At this time I bring a passion for exceptional customer service with burning desire to learn. Please offer any advice to "Secure" a job within a dermatologist or medical office whereby I may train before I receive the additional certification. Thank you in advance for your input.
