The day to day things that are done as an aircraft mechanic, Do you need to be real mechanical to be an aircraft mechanic?

Is it a classic grease monkey job, or is it for the engineer type?
Sorry for the bluntness, but I'm sure everyone knows what i mean.

Aircraft maintenance can be both. You may be working on the 787 one place and get dirty at all or you may be working on a radial engine which is greasy manufacturing in general though is cleaner than maintenance
