I have four years worth of credits from Virginia State University and I am returning to complete my degree in elementary education. I would like to get into the field by finding a substitute teaching or teacher's aide position in the Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Petersburg and/or Chester, Virginia area. How do I find these available positions so that I am able to have some education/classroom experience when I finish the program and obtain my degee?

Go to the school district sites to look up jobs that are classified or support. Try volunteering or working at a day care center. Try Head Start. Look into your college for assistance in finding jobs and/or volunteer work. There are PLENTY of opportunities, and those who hire you after your degree will really want you for your history of volunteering or community service projects with children.
