I recently graduated in Marketing major with good 3.4 GPA. My ultimate short term desire is to land an Associate Brand Manager's position. I am curious to know what is the position before being ABM?
What is it? Please advice as to what jobs to look for? |

Speedious, it depends on the company and industry. Usually, an Associate Brand Manager is the next step before becoming a Brand Manager. So, all of the job titles you listed are on track to a Management position. However, if you have an MBA, you can skip those positions and enter as an Assistant Brand Manager. Again it depends on the company and industry. These positions are extremely hard to come by. I received my MBA in '04 and still have yet to secure an Assistant Brand Manager position. Of course, the series of recessions had a lot to do with it. My advice to you is to get ANY sales/marketing-related job within the industry that you are interested. Keep in touch with the duties that are required of Brand Managers and try to get that experience. Brand Managers come from all different backgrounds. So, it's important to develop the necessary skills for this position. If you have the skills you can swing from industry to industry. But with the economy being so tight, now, it's best to work in the industry you desire. Hope this helps and good luck! speedious in Los Angeles, California said: I recently graduated in Marketing major with good 3.4 GPA.
