I'm looking to become a soundboard operator for a band or studio. Where do I start? I'm still in high school. Just curious for some input in what opportunities to look for, and what (affordable) colleges I can go to for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

forget college, just find a place where you can get ProTools certified. Then get a job anywhere and save up to build your own studio and go into business for yourself. I graduated from a sound college with a Bachelor degree and this is what I'm doing now. FYI there are no "affordable" colleges that have an audio major.
I've just given you the keys to your future...do the work.

Visit your local Cable Access channel. They will give you training (most of the time free). You will also have many opportunity's to volunteer to hone your skill.
