Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing?

Where are the jobs? Which places have the most automotive mechanic opportunities?

There are no careers in Automotive repair only JOBs. As you get older in this line of work you will find two choices, either start your own shop or teach. You will need to further your education in order to teach or risk it all starting your own shop. Both will cost!! You don't retire from this line of work. If you stay in it too long the only retirement plan you'll have is the Chestknee plan, that is to say when you grab your chest and fall to your knees...now your retired. The longer your in this line the more you will know but somethings are better left alone. There are associations and alliances out there like ASA & AASP whos members are local garage owners that periodically meet behind closed doors where they engage in illegal practices like price-fixing and black listing. These illegal activeties keep honest, hard-working and skilled persons from "bettering themselves" as so many of these owners like to claim their workers are enabled to do. And if you should know this to be true or have experienced these meetings first-hand as I have you would be best to remember to play along and always have a back up plan...
